1960 Atala pickup
Super excited about this one, I just happened to get lucky and see this Atala for sale locally right after it was posted.
From what I can tell it is a 1960 model (serial number starts with 60). It has a Columbus steer tube with rifling present. The seatpost is currently 26.8 but it wiggles a little before clamping so I wonder if a 27.0 will fit.
The original parts would seem to be Campagnolo gran sport, and a variety of later campy parts have also been added. The coolest part for me I think are the Atala branded Record high flange hubs. Definitely not something you see every day!
So, any thoughts on what I might have here and the original build? I am thinking it would be nice to rebuild this one to period spec if it isn't too cost prohibitive. It has all the makings of a nice winter project 😁

Congratulations!
Getting the paint and transfers in such outstanding condition is really a stroke of good fortune.
Correct fittings include rear mech, headset, shift levers, seat binder, hubs, pedals, stem, brake cable clips and chainstay stop.
Frame constructed with Agrati "BRIANZA" pattern lug set nr. 000.8030/U.
Upper head lug nr. 000.8034.
Lower head lug nr. 000.8033.
Seat lug nr. 022.8039.
The presence of the Magistroni headset and Sheffield pedals indicate it would have begun life as a one down from the top model.
Its likely the original chainset would have been a Magistroni L.Senior three-arm model.
If you would like to fit a plausible alloy set one good candidate would be a Stronglight model 57.
Look forward to following along with the build.

Great bike! I have a real weakness for bikes of this vintage. Nice that it has the Atala branded Record hubs!

Very nice. For some reason I like the heavy duty look of the seatpost lug at the binder bolt clamp area. Solid and purposeful looking.

I suggest you put some handlebars on it, before test-riding it. Don't worry about brakes, brakes are for wimps. 😁😉

Very awesome! I have the same bike -- my grandfather bought it new for my mom in 1961 or '62, and my wife still rides it and loves it. In between (somewhere in the 1970s), my uncle painted it black, for use on NYC streets, but a few years ago I had it repainted in the same color scheme you've got. Should you need new decals, I got very good reproductions from Gus Salmon in Florida. Finding the proper headbadge on Italian eBay was difficult, but I got one. Mine has the same Campy mechs and hubs. It came to me with Mavic brakes, but the ones on yours look more likely. I'd ride it myself, but it's too small for me. Enjoy!

Actually the front and rear drops are painted blue. In my searching I have seen a few examples of this treatment. Not really sure why, but it looks pretty good in person.

I got a chance to tear the frame down a bit today. The steerer is definitely Columbus, with 5 distinct helical ridges.
And I have confirmed that at least the main frame tubing is Columbus as well. I was barely able to make out the Columbus stamp on the top, down, and seat tubes. Top tube says .7-1 but I can't read the others.
