Hey from waaaaay down South... (Tasmania)

Yo! Thought I'd better drop an intro post in here.

While I've ridden bikes on and off my whole life, these days I'm a "full roadie" at heart and have been since Cadel won the Tour. Currently putting the miles on my 2002 Trek 5200 that I restored from the ground up with all modern parts. I've always lusted after one of these bikes in US Postal livery so when one FINALLY popped up for sale near enough to me, I didn't need to be asked twice! Got a couple of other road bikes, but this one is my favourite. The frameset may be near enough 20 years old, but it doesn't seem to slow me down too much...

So, ummmm, yeah. Hi from way down in Tasmania!

I meant to "intro" sooner but I topped out on my five-post-per-day forum imposed limit.

Welcome. From what we see on the Tele about Tasmania, I would expect that you get chased by a variety of animals on your longer rides.

Hehehe! There's a bit of wildlife about, but it's mostly at night or dusk/dawn when they're active (road kill is a huge problem).

What a beautiful bike! I love it. And what a special thing it would be to be able to ride in Tasmania. Just gorgeous. Coming from the U.S. when I biked here & there in WA I couldn't soak in enough of the beauty all around, especially along the Southern Ocean. You've got it good.

Welcome. I'd bet very few members here on BF from Tasmania. A beautiful place so I've heard. My nephew, a U.S. citizen, spent 7 years in Melbourne and I ragged him relentlessly to go visit Tasmania. He finally figured out it was a cheap ferry ride, went and loved it.

You did a beautiful job on the hike, as BTW.
