Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I try very hard not to overexpose myself. One can get arrested for that.

WhyFi I broke out my way old Moka pot this morning. I always found that it made coffee bitter so I watched a video from James Hoffmann for tips and found out that I had been doing things wrong a long, long time ago.

Anyway, the old pot made some pretty good coffee using his instructions.

Coldest morning in awhile. Yesterday never got hot. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say I can taste it now.

Our first years in these parts, October 10 was the official opening day for the winter cycling season. Last year we were into November. Looks like another early start to the season.

Ah, the Coffee Sage. I do wonder if he'll be sainted in a future coffee-centric religion.

Interesting story about that VeganCyclist training camp, apparently there are only 22 spots. My friend who works for Hammerhead (he is a software guy) snagged one of the spots. Apparently two weeks ago there was a cancellation and he announced to our little group the opening, and another club-mate whose income and spending habits are high enough we could call him a ______mogul snagged it right up. The second one is the same guy who owns half a bike in LA that I borrowed on my my recent trip.

I could drink a quart of coffee, but not all at once, and not with all that crap in it.

I called my Mom yesterday and found out my BIL has covid. He was fully vaccinated in March with a 2 dose shot can't remember which. He's getting antibodies today to help. He's doing OK so hopefully he will snap back soon.

Glad he's doing well.

Of the people I know who are vax'd and have tested positive, their symptoms have all been pretty mild.
