Nishiki International, 1973. No front wheel. Has been mounted on my air trainer for the last 10 years. Local pickup only. In Ventura County. I would like to save this from the dumpster.

Any idea why we have two "pay it forward" threads? The other is here. No need to respond if this has been hashed out already and I'm the only person who is unaware of the reasons for the duality.

At any rate, along with a few boxes of French parts I received recently, I also got a four-page Huret brochure describing how to install and set up several of their derailleurs (700, Svelto, Luxe, and Allvit, each page in French, English, and German). I ironed it to reduce some of the creases and scanned it. The result is here. The original is a bit more cheery, having been printed on a rose-colored paper. Unfortunately, my scanner software dumped core ("crapped out" for those not in the Unix/Linux world) when I tried to scan it in color.

I'm not really a Francophile and am not a document collector at all. I'm happy to pass along the original to anyone interested in such stuff. If you want it (and you live in the USofA, where I can mail letters cheaply), drop me an email (skip.montanaro@gmail.com) with your street address and I'll send it along.

This one is SUPPOSED to be for all Classic and Vintage items, and the other is for newer more modern things. Some things get cross-posted. C'est la vie.

Petition to survey the forum members to gauge interest in a Pay it Forward subforum, or to work it into an ISO / For Trade subforum.

look at the timestamps in the posts, it's like one a week. I don't think that warrants effort of setting up a specific forum capability

That doesn't mean we shouldn't encourage it.

Demand at the moment doesn't necessarily mean it could be a lovely addition. Plus, it's a shoe-in if it's rolled into a more-popular ISO/FT subforum.

Update: Box has been taken

Anyone need a bike box in the SF Bay Area, maybe to ship something? I bought a frame a few months ago and was about to break the box down for recycling, but I heard these are hard to find right now. Dimensions are 40” x 28” x 8”.

Local pickup only in SF Bay Area. Private message me and we can work out details.

I do need the space, so I’ll leave this up for a few days, and if no takers, to the recycler it goes…

ISO v Pay it Forward

I think we should keep ISO/WTT separate from PIF.
ISO/WTT includes includes trades, sales on the sly, and gifts. PIF on the other hand, is completely free plus shipping - many times free with shipping.

I agree with dweenk, let's make it simple and straight forward.
Best, Ben

Two crusty Regina Oros. One is 13-21 and the other is 13-23. They need an overhaul for sure. Free for cost of shipping.

Ben, and dweenk,
So here is my contribution this week. Last week a pretty rough Pinarello came in from Florida. It lost all of the parts that came with it, and it went straight to the powder coating shop to repair the salt water damage. The previous owner had been riding it as a fixed gear bike. And I don't really want some parts so here they are to any members who will pay postage/shipping from Bloomington, IN. First up is the fixed gear wheel: Sovos flip flop hub laced onto Araya 700c clincher with specialized tire &tube. five speed freewheel compatible. Comes with skewer. Pics here:

clincher rim and correct vintage era label

Sovos hub with freewheel side shown and fixed gear on back side
First to PM me gets it. And price is cost of shipping. Smiles, MH

Next up is a stem for one inch steering tube. Nothing special but someone might want or need it.

A little rough and could use a repaint but still a good stem.
Again first to PM gets it. Likely about $8 via USPS Smiles, MH

And the last one is a fork that came in with no bike in mind but should work for a touring bike for one of our members. Cost of shipping likely about $15 through the post office

Not sure about the history but looks like it is from a C-dale tourer

Steerer tube is about 5-1/2"

extra eyelets and mid section eyelets for touring bag attachments

lol is that pronounced 'tourer'?

I think that might be what kind of bike was ridden by the Rural Juror
