Allentown Bridge closed

For now, the closure is indefinite. Should be more news before long though.

This bridge is part of some of my loops, I like to ride south on Lake Washington Blvd or Beacon, take 129th down the hill into Allentown, then I take different routes north. I don't see a lot of road cyclists down there, but some of it is good riding. FYI to anyone who used that bridge.

I'd never heard of Allentown before, and I didn't know that Tukwila even had neighborhoods with names.

The Green River goes through that neighborhood. A few blocks away it's very industrial and then there are parks and Victorian houses. There aren't that many ways from Beacon Hill to West Seattle and if you like hills, going through Allentown checks a lot of boxes on a big Seattle loop.

I didn't really think Tukwila had anything but that horrible mall.

They have a nice light rail station if you want to hop on the Interurban trail.

So, this is still closed to auto traffic, but you can ride past the barriers effort getting off your bike. It isn't structurally sound for 10,000 pounds trucks, I'm heavy by road standards and felt safe on a heavy gravel bike!

The one word of caution is if you head south over the bridge, the roads get really confusing.
