I painted that one about 34 years ago. I was going for sort of a Coppertone/flamboyant blue tribute. Tricky colors to blend. I think I've only got one more and it's bagged up with desiccant along with my wife's four.

It seems I dropped the ball here, I did have a dedicated thread but apparently didn't link it or follow it up here.

1958 Paramount that turned out great IMO.

What model has the bar end shifters?
My G77 has this style of cable stop on the downtube, so I assume it should have bar end shifters. Also the bag of stuff that came with the frame had this style of shifters

Barend shifters were either an option when ordering or something a previous owner added later. What brand to you have? Campagnolo, Suntour, Schwinn Approved (which are Suntour), or something else?

That is one beautiful frame. What a fantastic find!

If you do, post your source, the Waterford site states, that they were built in various Asian factories. Back up your statement that all were built by Panasonic in Japan. Pretty easy to find images of Series 2 bikes, with made in China on the head tube, surfing the net.

Well you didn’t look very hard, but even that, and the Waterford site, prove that your statement that “ All 1991-1992 Schwinn Paramount PDG Series 2, 3, 5, 7, were made in Japan by Panasonic” to be false! Still waiting for your source to back up your statement. You don’t have one, do you?

The "lifelong experts" are spreading the false information about PDG Series 2, 3 on the trusted forum.
I had both 1992 PDG Series 2 and 3 in the past.
PDG Series 3 had a JAPAN sticker on the head tube and both of them had the Panasonic serial numbers.
I can't attach anything since I am an impolite newbie.

pgtnice, welcome to BF-C&V. We always appreciate civil conversations, even when correcting mistakes.

Here's why we ponder and question your information which attempts to dispute a "lifelong expert":
  1. Scooper 's father was a career-long Schwinn executive, who worked directly with Schwinn family members.
  2. Scooper has meticulously researched and documented many aspects of Schwinn history, specifically Paramount history, utilizing internal Schwinn communications saved by his father and passed along to him.
  3. Scooper has, as a part of his research, and through his father's professional connection, become a personal friend of Richard Schwinn, a "founder" of PDG, and current owner of Waterford Cycles.
  4. Richard Schwinn, so appreciates Scooper's research and information, along with Tom Findley's work, he has incorporated it into the Waterford website.
  5. Richard Schwinn has always been very generous of his time when vintage Paramount owners (of any era Paramount) email and ask questions regarding his/her Paramount
So, we are not being snarky when we ask for a source for your information which you claim disputes previous information provided by scooper about Paramount Series bikes.

However, when you write, from out of the blue in only your second post on BF, after quoting scooper in your first post to BF, and state: "He has no clue about PDG 2, 3 Series...," we remain dubious, at best, and thus ask for the basis of your information.

This is why we feel you are being impolite. We realize scooper might have gotten something wrong in the past, and it might need to be corrected. But taken as a whole, we'd trust scooper who has over 10,000 well written, thoughtful, and helpful posts on BF, compared to your four above, which provide no proof to your statement, "he (scooper) has no clue...."

We'd humbly appreciate your information when you can document it. We will weigh your evidence and consider it appropriately.

My point exactly! As many of us do I also had a 1992 Schwinn Paramount PDG series 3 with a "JAPAN" sticker and Panasonic serial number 2A02xxx.
I am patiently waiting to hear what he has to say.

But you never politely stated that you had a "Japan Made" PDG Series 3 (which scooper had previously stated as being made in either Tawain or China) and could scooper comment on this difference.

Instead, you state "See for yourself. He has no clue about PDG 2, 3 Series." Which, IMO, is a rather snarky way to correct previously listed information.

If you'd check, you can see that scooper hasn't been active on BF-C&V since late 2017 and early 2018, with the exception of one post in January 2019. You might need to patiently wait for a long time for his response.

At the risk of further derailing this thread, I have to speak up re Scooper. I've had the pleasure of meeting and riding with him in person, more than once. He is a very nice man, and not one given to exaggeration. If he is sure about something, he'll say so. If he is pretty sure but not positive about something, he'll say so. If he doesn't know, he'll say so. He does not make claims about things or say "X is so" without reason. He doesn't make stuff up. Mistaken about something to do with Paramounts and Schwinn in general? Possible, but highly unlikely. He "has no clue"? Simply incorrect.

And to anticipate the "why doesn't he state his sources" gripe, he is not a young man and I fear he may not be in good health - I don't know, that's just my fear from not seeing him here in a long time (and I hope I'm wrong). But he has a ton of cred, a lot more than a newbie with bad manners who shouts "Listen to me." Scooper would be too much of a gentleman to say it for himself, so I will say it for him: pgtnice, you owe Scooper an apology.

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming . . . .

Fully agree and exactly my point.

And even if it were suspect, anybody new coming in with declarations and no cred, should have the where with all to observe forum decorum until they establish a rapport, instead of forcing their point and doubling down with no verification, getting upset about it when called out for it.
