I picked up a Bolt as I decided to finally upgrade my ancient 500. Really, really like it. Super adjustable screens that are easy to customize via the phone app, turn-by-turn directions, all kinds of data to dork out on. Love the form factor - the original ELEMNT was just a little chunky/clunky and the buttons seemed unwieldy. The Bolt is a really well designed piece. Screens are so much cleared and easy to read. The LEDs seem a little gimmicky, but are sort of nice and can easily be turned off.

I have noticed a few tiny hiccups here and there — the other night it wouldn't load some routes I'd built in ridewithgps.com so I could try out the turn-by-turn stuff. Read a thread online about logging out of Wahoo Companion App if that happens, so I logged out, tried synching again again and it instantly added all my routes. Odd, but nothing major.

What I like about the Bolt and Wahoo in general is how they're constantly pushing firmware updates and adding new features. They seem to be really on top of what users want, which is cool. Plus it was cheaper than a 520.

The bolt was legitimately interesting to me, one thing that I am really pining for is the ability to create workouts on it. If it had that, I would debate buying one even though I am pretty invested in the Garmin Ecosystem.

But now that im thinking about..I don't really use custom workouts much anymore since I started using Zwift for trainer workouts, and lately when doing them outside I just hit lap instead of programming the workout in

I'm still waiting for my 500 to die so that I can get a 520! The 500 still does everything I need and pretty well too..

Mine didn't work in the rain. Or the humidity.

And the touch screen just didn't work at all after a while.

My 500 mostly died (buttons worked only when they wanted to) so I got a 520. I can exchange the 500 for a refurb for $89, might do this so I have a backup.

Does anyone know of a single 11 chain-ring that will work on a Dura-Ace 4 bolt crank in the 44-46 range?
I see they make a 42T inner that I will try, but less than ideal.

Shimano makes them, obviously. I'd say CA/OR are about the best chance you have of tracking one down outside Belgium.

I imagine the industry has yet to answer after the release of 9100, but multiple companies make a 46/34 or similar for 9000. At least one, Wolf Tooth, make a 1X 110bcd 46t for 9000. Nobody else makes the bulbous hydroformed aluminum rings like shimano so you get that tall ledge where it would normally line up.

I actually have not even considered acknowledging the 41 exists in many years. Makes perfect sense they would be feasting on such velo-sexual intrigue.

Back on topic, Mr. LaVar Doge might consider seeking out prosperous business relationships for his talented son(s) instead of focusing solely on promotion among amateur enthusiasts. The type of relationships that would ease the pressures of securing equipment or technical solutions such as this presented.

His son is a cadet at the US Air Force Academy. He's getting a free, high quality education and upon graduation will have a job that even as a 2LT will pay better than 95% of pro bike racing jobs. Sounds like a MUCH better financial plan.

I didn't say anything about what his kid is doing with his time. My comment was directly pointed at dad and his endless campaigning. Hence the tongue in cheek, rib poking, LaVar Ball reference.

Getting payed by Shimano as an athelete spokesman is quite far from being on very good terms with their rep as I was suggesting. Technical solutions and access to equipment has much more to do with the support they send to races and how they choose which races to send it to. I know that doesn't apply to your situation or that of many others

We's had some rough luck with those. I'd prefer a one piece of metal. Ideally not designed to de-rail and then also thin enough for an 11-sp chain. I think I'll have to use an inner and it will look ugly.

Correct. I am an cycling enthusiast, son is an amateur and this is serious recreation.
People/companies have been very kind to him with gifts and deals.
I'm not seeking any business relationships for a recreation. They cost time.
They limit what you can do/use/say/wear/eat.

As 7900 started getting long in the tooth a steady stream of TT and CX sized rings started appearing on the market from NOS surplus. Pay attention for a similar trickle of 9000 rings closer to CX season.

I'd strongly advise not using an inner ring without the ramps and pins.

I agree, when I joined my team there was a contract that took swallowing a lump to sign. That wasn't the easy friendship and informal trading of information I was referring to. Cycling is a very small world and finding out where chances to advance your kid exist seems to be a pretty big priority for you. Schmooze the right people is all I was saying.
