I wouldn't touch this with a 10-foot pole, but do any of you think this is worth the asking price? Why?

You'd have to be a collector to pay that, but is the bike in collectible quality shape?
Put simply, a person looking for a cheap used carbon mountain bike will not pay that price, which gets you a respectable lighter new bike, all in.

Vintage MTBs are getting more popular but $2000 is a bit much for even vintage road bikes which aren't like pristine pre-Columbus-family Cinellis or something.

1975 Motobecane Grand Jubile Road Bike Reynolds 531 Campagnolo 58cm - $400 (Tacoma, Spanaway (can travel))
https://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/b...076688149.html
Here's a beautiful lugged 1975, maybe '76 Motobecane Grand Jubile road bike. About 57/58cm. 22.5in c2c seattube and toptube. Time capsule for the most part. Newer Michelin Pro 3 tires.Rides great and is tuned up.
Nearly all original, Campagnolo rear derailleur, Sunshine Pro Am hub set placed to Campagnolo Omega 700c rims.
Weinman Brakes and levers.
Belleri handlebars.
Huret down tube shifters and front derailleur. Stronglight cranks. Turbo Saddle...and more.
Asking $400 OBO
Looks like a NR rear mech - did Motobecane GJs come with those as an option, or was it generally whatever Huret's stuff was at the time?

Very clean Super Le Tour with Dura-Ace and Campagnolo
1976 Schwinn Super LeTour 12.2 - $180 (Park Ridge)
"This Super LeTour 12.2 is a vintage time capsule. It was pulled from the original owners garage covered in dust and cob webs. The original owner was also the original builder. As a high school student, he worked at Rudy's bike shop and had dreams of being a bike racer. This LeTour is not the factory produced version offered at the Schwinn stores. It was built from a frame set with some of the best components available in 1976. The bike has retained all of it's original components except for rims, spokes and right side bar tape. The bike was completely cleaned with only bottom bracket and hubs needing overhaul. The original Fiamme sew-up rims were replaced with new Velocity clincher rims laced to the original Campy hubs. Fiamme rims and spokes are included with bike.
Double butted 4130 frame 25 inch or 63 cm original silver mist
Campy Nuovo Record (derailleurs, hubs, shift levers)
5 speed free wheel
Dura-Ace brakes, cranks (52/42) and head set
Diacompe brake levers
Sakae handle bar and seat post
Barantito stem
Kyokuto pedals
Aiake Jaguar saddle
1076 date stamp"

My interest in this bike comes from the fact that I tried to buy one locally, for half this asking price, but the seller knows me and didn't want me to modify it in any way. He wanted to sell to someone who would restore it or keep it as-is. His prerogative, I guess, but he knows I don't do anything to permanently alter these bikes. I've seen the name "Drew" thrown around in that regard, someone who cuts off RD hangers when he builds fixies? Well, I've got plenty of projects, and I've run out of room anyway, so I guess I'll start looking again after I sell a couple.

Early examples came with Huret derailleurs. Later on, they switched to SunTour. As far as I know, Campy derailleurs weren't an option.

some interesting things here: storage locker sale so I suspect they will be happy with cash in hand at far less than asking (my experience with these has been this). De Rosa is far too small for me! The Alan however...but not sure thats even for sale!

I like the '79 and '80 models with the full Vitus 172 tubing. Every bit as light as 531c, and they're sorta under the radar. Plus, they're 126mm rear spacing with top tube cable guides. I think the '81 Jubile Sport is full V172 as well.

I will say, the tapered seat stays on the '83 are sexyyyyyyy. Weight of its Columbus frame is almost identical to the V172, although my '80 GR V172 frame still feels lighter to me.

Build that never happened, evidently. IIRC, that color of 022 sticker indicates main triangle only. "Leopard print" gum hoods, Blue Line (?) shifters, those icky Grab-Ons, and what appears to be a dealer decal from Wheel & Sprocket.
Seat post caution.....

Wisconsin definitely has a lot of aboriginal names, as does Minnesota. But it's hard to top New Jersey for these hard-to-pronounce monikers:

Follis is back for $60:

(pic is a dozen posts up)
Nice looking Swiss Super Mondia goodness, $150 starting bid:

Fairly sure ths 60cm frameset is an early '70s Gitane TdF/SC. It netted zero bids last listing, maybe because it's a "mystery frame", but it's on schedule to end again for under $120 shipped:
