Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It was supposed to be sub-50° when I set out. I had bad intel - blame the meteorologists.

In 2006 I created an entry for a high school I went to. I hadn't looked at the page in years. Today it looked like one of the students must have added sections to it (with high school-level writing). Sad.

As iconic as the BS and its sign are, it wasn't that. I don't know when it was established. It's been there for a long time! I've ridden by it hundreds of times during the last 15 years, probably.

It was like 60° when I left - that's not exactly balmy when you're not warmed up. If it were 60° in your house, you'd have four layers on - I had a bit of spandex and, yes, a pair of gloves.

36 miles , 20 plus mph head winds on the return leg. Which explain why I felt so good on the way out. Best I could do on the main part of the return leg was 13 mph. My guads are throbbing.

Nope. Never been to Winged Deer Park.

Just looked it up and we were warmer than it is today for eight straight days in January.

Trollheim, last I checked, was a cesspool of people being stupid for stupid's sake. Maybe it's better now. I don't go there.

Hey MoAlpha one of my college friends told me his daughter got drafted by NIH to switch from cancer research to COVID19 vaccine research. He said they are optimistic they will have something viable much sooner than the 18 month time-frame I had heard.

I hope that's true.
