The Seller, as they say, does not speak bike. I asked, "what brand name is stamped on the cranks, brakes, etc". He said, "I have no idea". So, I am pushing (lightly) for more info. Its been up for sale for a while, so I guess he has had a lot of questions.
The shifter levers may be Suntour.

Crank is early 2000s Shimano Sora 3300.

Thanks for info. If its all Sora, then thats probably why it hasn't sold (at the price he's asking...)

Off topic of my original question......but that does look like a Columbus sticker on the seat tube.

I doubt the rest is Sora. The brakes certainly aren't Shimano and are much earlier than the crank. The shifters look like they could be Shimano shifters but there were never any Sora downtube shifters.

The derailleurs also look older and nicer than the cranks. I would guess most of the bike is original and the Sora crank was a more recent replacement.

I knew I had seen it. Thinking of 105, but it should be 3300 series Sora. square taper.

Black brake calipers and levers may be a different groupset or brand.

Shifters may also be RL400??

Brakes might be Modolo Mach 3. Suntour SL shifters? Cinelli XA stem? Shimano 600 headset?

Definitely a Columbus decal.

Not many Columbus decals have a long name, so I would hazard a guess at Aelle Or, Cromor or Tretubi something...

Edit: Unlikely but just looking at another thread, Neuron fits the bill for silver decal and word length

Forget the bike... Check out that sweet pipe assembly next to it. I aspire to the day when my lawn is filled with old plumbing/gas fittings and de-wheeled bikes.

Regarding the tubeset, the frame has an odd mix of features for it's apparent age, particularly the absence of a front derailleur hanger. This suggests a lower end model. The border on the Columbus decal looks more mauve than blue. The only tubeset I recall with this colour of border was Gara, though the name does appear to be longer. Other possibilities based on the apparent frame level would be Aelle, Cromor and Thron, though I don't recall them with this border colour.

BTW, I agree that the crankset is Sora 3300 and that the calipers are some model of Modolo. The rear derailleur looks familiar but I can't place it. The front derailleur looks low end based on the plain clamp.

Looks like a typical east coast slum rental back yard to me. I would say in Boston it's weird not to have a landlord's detritus in your living space, and you never know whether it's ok to throw it out or not because it's not yours. From what I've seen, Connecticut where the OP is is the same but cheaper/more parking.

On the other hand, after decades of landlords dumping garbage in their tenants' yards, I often find neat buried relics when gardening. Makes me feel like Indiana Jones. Here's my latest.

Looks like a very decent De Bernardi frame. It might be well worth it to buy just for that.
