John Prine was a once in a generation talent.

I remember back in 71-72 I went to a outdoor festival.

$1.00 to get in. The beer flowed into cups and pitchers nonstop!

A group got onto a bed of a pickup truck and started to play early Faces/Rod Stewart. It was like Rod Stewart was standing on the bed of that truck! They were That Good.

They were great, (I suppose the beer and grass enhanced the feeling), but they were good and it was one of the most memorial days of my life.

Apropos of not much: in my college youth, had some friends who put together a *surprisingly good* arm-fart band. Most-requested song? "Windy". If they got together now, they would indeed be doing "old farts music"!

Here is an old pal of mine. I produced a lot of his early recordings which were just live club concert recordings. For years, I would mention to Ed that he should record his performances because there were some unbelievable fantastic performances that should have been captured. Like probably everybody, he'd say something like yes but who has the time to set it up and do it right because a board feed tape though clean and clear always sounds wrong and artificial no matter how much you process it, and live mics sound great but you are limited by the capabilities of even the best stereo tape deck. Well the nineties ushered in digital and DAT and MD proved far superior to the best r2r stereo tape deck for s/n ratio if you kept the recording levels below -3 and never hitting zero or the red.
I made a few concert recordings of his shows using a then state of the art, tiny, portable Sharp minidisc with my homemade stereo mic elevated in the air about 8 ft above the crowd in the optimum sweet spot in the center equidistant from the pa sound towers. The results were between FM stereo broadcast quality and official release quality with near perfect stereo balance left right and center. The homemade mic was constructed by me using Panasonic electret condenser elements from digi-key.
I believe that this served as the catalyst for ET to begin recording his shows. I probably recorded nearly every one from before the turn of the century to about 2010 with that same set-up which assisted in providing one point of reference for the mix for the multi-track recordings. I did not engineer or mix the multi-track recordings but I did get ET to finally capture his performances which as you can see, were and still are incredibly good. Yall probably have never heard of them because they never toured as this ensemble, and all of their sold out performances were all for the benefit of children's and animal's charities. Ed would laugh and smile and say that because you know it is hard to agree on stuff like that but everybody likes animals and helping out children.

Found her over on Soundcloud a few weeks ago. I really like her voice and a lot of the songs. Hoping to hear a lot more original stuff in the future.

Edit: Weird, not sure what's going on with the video links.

Anyway Rachael Hardy, google her music.

Rolling Stones a few months ago in Austin, Texas. I’m all other the place with music from The Rolling Stones to Slipknot. Not really into to country unless it is Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson. I can say yes I did see The Rolling Stones

Some airplanes taking off from airport got to see some fireworks.

Not a bad way to close out the show.

I'd pop Fleetwood Mac in my cassette player, get caught up in driving and forget about it. There was a super long lead before the music started, and of course the volume was always cranked. Then BOOM

These days I have to turn the volume down a bit, lest it gets my tinnitus going.

I've given specific instructions: Hire a small, family-size gathering place; no prepared services or clergy. About 15 minutes of music-- first, "Deborah's Theme" from Once Upon a Time in America, followed by the finale from Once Upon a Time in the West. Maybe a few comments, then everyone leaves, my ashes to end up in one of my favorite fishing lakes.

Hearing "Coming into Los Angeles" on Sirius got me playing some other 1970s tracks with pedal steel.

I am partial to Gorecki’s Third Symphony, the Symphony of Sorrows. And Poland may have more sorrows if the Ukraine thing boils over.
