Just a couple of weeks now,
Plenty of time for that weird weather to blow through there and become more Spring-like!
Was thinking I might bring the Bob Jackson as it has never traveled with me before.

One thing I failed to mention is that there are no stores along the route, hence my request to bring your preferred food and drink to put in the sag.

Vintage bikes, and historic churches - two of my favorite past times. About 18 hours from my home in Lake Mills. This sounds like a great road trip, ride and adventure. I will see if we can make it happen.

I was worried about that. It's like approaching a light that's been green for a while, it's going to turn red soon. Though it's still too early to reliably predict the weather, (especially in this part of Texas) the chance of rain could go either way. Where's Neal Lerner when you need him?

Good luck and stay warm. It seems fate always causes it to rain on days I plan events. Though, my last two First-Saturday vintage rides have had perfect weather.

I drove the tour route to make sure the roads are clear. Other than a couple of short, 10-foot-long sections of gravel over new culverts, everything was fine. I was happy to find the route covered in Bluebonnets! Just a week to go!

The weather looked terrible for yesterday’s Schulenburg Vintage Tour. Radar images showed rain stretching from west of Austin nearly to Houston, and it wasn’t moving. Add in temperatures in the low 40s and it looked like it was going to be a wash out. Once there, there was a very light drizzle as more and more riders showed up. Then, just before the 9am start, it starts to SLEET. We all decided to go to the coffee shop to wait it out.
We had 12 riders come despite the weather. We finally rolled out at 10:30, not knowing what the weather was had in store. Amazingly, it went great! We hit one short patch of very light drizzle late in the ride, and there was only one mechanical - a flat. All in all I’d call it a huge success considering the conditions. I'd like to thank rccardr and pastorbobnlnh for coming halfway across the country, and panzerwagon and joesch for coming from other parts of Texas, to join us. I just might put this on again next year.

We crossed the Piano Bridge (1885), named for the sounds the planks made as you drove across, then on to St. Cyril and St. Methodius Catholic Church (1912) in Dubina and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ammannsville. I really dislike riding in cold, wet conditions, but I had a blast! It was great to meet new people and to be able to share these roads with those who haven't ridden them. I certainly hope we can do it again next year - hopefully with better weather.

Had a fantastic ride. The weather reminded me of my June days in NH!

The weather was really refreshing and never really got wet and the TX wind was minimal so no extra hill or freeze effects
Thanks to Brad and wife for super nice group ride with SAG support. Pictures and descriptions also outstanding. The scenery was beautiful including the ranches decked out with wild flowers and blue bonnets.
Great mix of BF'ers, classic rides, and conversations.
Really fun ride that I look forward to repeating.
I also hit some of my fav Austin gravel and road on way down and returning from Schulenburg.
