No. It won't work. Longer inner cage. Plus I'm going from a 50 big to a 53 big, and the derailleur won't clear the 53.

If that longer inner cage clears the middle ring of a triple, what wouldn't it clear the same size middle ring on a double? The clearance is only made better by using a larger big ring. Triple deraillers are only limited by a minimum tooth difference between rings, not maximum. To clear the 53 tooth big ring you simply move the derailler up in the braze-on mount.

That's true about the inner cage not mattering. The outer cage, even when pushed all the way up to the top, will not clear the 53. Because the parallelogram is longer. Just take my word for it.

I'll be honest, I highly suspect this claim as I'm using a 105 5603 derailler with a triple crankset with 52/42/30 rings. I originally tried fitting an Ultegra 6603 but it had too deep of an inner cage to deal with the 10 tooth jump from middle to big. It was designed to work with a 52/39/30 crankset which explains that. When 10 speed 105 came out, the front derailler was matched to a 50/39/30 crankset. I figured one more tooth shouldn't be an issue for this derailler and I was right, sort of. I needed to set the derailler at the max height over the big ring to just barely eek out enough middle ring clearance. I'm just happy to be using a 10 speed FD with my 10 speed chain versus my previous set up with a 9 speed FD. Ideally I'd switch to a 53 tooth big ring as that would get me an 11 tooth differential and put all of my clearances where I'd ideally have them. There is plenty more adjustment in the "up" direction on my current set up.
