I dont want wheels I have to change the brake pads to use. I thought about Reynolds and HED but I guess Im just gonna pass. Zipp told me Feb/March on the Campy 09 Zipps because of the change to 11 speed. In cycling time, that means April or May.

I'll have to see what Sean says about the 6.0s. Because of my weight he's always tried to talk me out of his wheels but Ive had good luck with the 4.0s. The 6.0s would do nicely if he'll actually sell me a set.

How about going custom? you can have a set built with Zipp rims and 28 rear spokes, 24 front?

I have plenty of aluminum wheels.. I have a set of Fuclrum 1s, Campy Eurus and Soul 4.0s. I dont really need another set of aluminum wheels.

Yea.. If I could find someone who could build them, thats an option. Excel Sports carries everything to build a custom set. Im not sure who else would. Most online builders dont list the 404 rim. (Or the 505 as they call it rim only)

I actually did call them today and they didnt have a prebuilt set. Given that they get $755 each for 404 rims, that would put the build well over $2000.00, which is out of my budget.

They list the regular 404's as available and on sale @ $1680, and note the clydes version is no upcharge. Don't knowif they have any...
Good luck!

I emailed Sean at Soul Bikes about a set of 5.2C for myself and about the rider weight limit. He says the 5.2C have NO RIDER WEIGHT LIMIT and I am at 5'10 and 185lbs. It looks like a great alternative to the Zipps and lighter than the 6.0 you are looking at.

Except he doesn't want a carbon brake surface.

If you're worried about braking surfaces and weight limits, I'd get some Flashpoints or some Mavic Cosmic Carbones. Neither will be the lightest things in the world, but they're stiff, sturdy wheels that have plenty of bling and good aero performance.
Given your requirements, I'd say you already excluded all the high-end stuff from your shopping list. All-carbon tubulars are, in my opinion, the only real performance wheels in this category. You're just shopping for something neat, and that's cool.

They also tested very well aerodynamically on that ever-elusive Roues Artisanales (sp?) chart.

My experience with Mavic has been mixed. I know a lot of people swear by their wheels.. Ive had a couple of sets and had to return them.
