Comment on a 15 year old thread to say American bikes are made in China...sweet. I actually remember reading this thread bitd as I has a desire to own a Worksman.

I just bought a Worksman frame, I was wondering if anyone knows how to determine when this bike was built.
Frame number on the bottom of the bottom bracket shell is 02 018020.
Anyone?

I have one of these Worksman, it's called a low gravity bike. I use it to run to the store instead of my road bike, I love it.

I bought one of these LGB delivery bikes in the early 1990's. Over the years I've gradually changed things, lower overall gearing, 3 speed drum brake Sturmey Archer hub, front drum brake, 12" rise handlebar, and lastly some old school heavy duty aluminum rims to replace the absolutely bullet proof steel moped rims. About 5 years ago I broke the frame. The seatpost broke right where the chainguard attachment point is welded onto it. I am very tall so the seatpost sticks way out of the frame and I think this had something to do with this frame failure. I've had the frame re welded but have yet to put it back together. This bike was mostly used for grocery store runs and it literally has hauled home a 100 tons of groceries over the decades. I'm going to paint the repaired bike and put it back in service soon. I worked at a plant that had Worksman bikes and they are bulletproof and easy to repair. My son has a Worksman Industrial INB model that was in a rental fleet. That bike is bulletproof and easy to work on also. Put me on the positive side for Worksman bicycles.
