Finally got some seat time in today. Did a slow 20 after being pretty much off the bike for the last few weeks. Stayed a little gassed, sucking eggs the whole way but I expected that. Nice ride anyway.

Did a nice and easy 56 mile ride with one of my cycling buddies. Heat and humidity was really bad today.

20 miles Thursday evening, to and from a meeting about local MUP safety issues, and a grocery store trip. It was hot even near sunset but much less humid so it was more pleasant than earlier this week.

Shooting for a 50 mile ride this morning, with my buddy Steve, but it got cut slightly short by some morning rain. Had two more miles left to go when it started to drizzle and in this heat, it really felt good. However, we could tell that there was a downpour coming so we opted to skip the last part of the ride and head for the barn. The downpour started just as we pulled into the parking lot so we made a beeline to the restroom building and waited out the rain. 48 miles total for the day.

Nice looking Catrike! Are those rocket launcher tubes above the seat?

Still cool this morning at 8AM. 26.4 miles on the Allez. I stopped at home and shed the jacket around 10AM and changed into shorts for the last few miles of the ride.

Excessive winds today (20-30mph) so I took the trike out (low profile) for 15.6 miles. Intermittent clouds so it was alternately cloudy and sunny. With the heavy winds I averaged only 10mph.

The wife and I got to the park early this morning to meet by buddy Frankie for a ride. He was running late so I went with the wife and did the first lap through the park on my own then came back to the parking lot to wait for Frankie. Nice 53 mile ride at a casual to moderate speed ride. Got some pretty good winds during mid ride but they were certainly welcomed in this heat.

Several people said they saw a Florida Black Bear around the same area that I saw the gator last Saturday. I looked for it on my last lap but didn't see it. Lots of things to see when riding in a wilderness park.

Ugh - got stung by a wasp on my ankle during this mornings ride. Every pedal hurt and it still does some 6 1/2 hours later. I managed to get in 34 miles at a "moderate" pace on a windy morning.

Ready to head out the garage at 7:35AM today and I just happened to be in one of the VERY FEW areas in the entire state of Florida to be hit with a thunder storms AT THAT MOMENT. Started working on a decorative 10' long dock for a Key West motif in the front of out house so no riding done today.

Know how a sting feels, mine was in the bare head that the bee got after it went thru a cooling vent in the helmet. Know it was a bee since the stinger was left pumping more in before I quickly dismounted, yanked off the helmet and got the injector out.

Color me jealous, sweet bike. I did my usual 23.5 mile circuit of Presque Isle again, plus around 3 more miles (?) to go past the coast guard station, out to the light house at the end of the pier. I dunno just what that area's called, but it's past beach 11, off the beaten path. Plenty of good looking females out there today.

My wife and I did 75 km in our local wine country (the western edge of Quebec's Eastern Townships). I rode my 1994 Marinoni Special. My wife rode her '93 Marinoni (stock Columbus Cromor frame, Campy Athena Ergopower components). I love my Marinoni. Though I have a carbon bike (Cervelo R3 Team on Campy Chorus), my Marinoni is my go-to bike when I want to ride a century, it is such a plush ride. I bought it new, it was a custom-fitted frame. When I slip it under me, it's like getting into my favourite pair of jeans after work.

I've just ordered a carbon Marinoni Genius to replace the Cervelo, which I bought in an end-of-season sale to try out carbon, but the frame is a wee bit too big for me and since my son is part owner of a bike shop that is a Marinoni dealer and gives his dear old dad a substantial discount, I didn't need too much convincing to decide to sell the Cervelo and order a new Genius on Campy Record that is a better fit; I should be getting it next week.

Great looking bike!

Nearly as old as me (58). I love classic steel road bikes, it looks to be in great shape.

Yes I did. I've just finished my Japanese City Bike (Toshi Baiku) build and spent the entire day riding around Saint Paul shaking her down and fixing any bugs that cropped up. Of course, we had to stop for photos...

Top of the hill, overlooking Saint Paul and the river.

Along the trails through our many parks.

Then down the hill and along the waterfront...

...and into the industrial heart of the city.

Here we are near sundown, and we still have to go back up the hill.

After many miles and that steep climb up Ohio Street, there's a nice treat waiting at the top. Wild Berry Smoothie at The Amore Cafe.

Went on my first group ride today. About 25 miles (I think, I wasn't really keeping tabs). Fun, and a beautiful day. And neat meeting other bike nerds.

Nice Father's Day ride this morning with my buddy Steve. Family scheduled to arrive in the late morning so I only had time for a 40 mile ride. Nice overcast and lower humidity made for a excellent morning for riding.

I've been remiss about posting. Events have conspire to keep us off the bike once or twice. Events have conspired to keep me too dang busy. So...

We did 32.2 miles on the tandem yesterday, but we took no pictures. (I recall a grade school teacher saying that none or zero was singular. So the proper form of that sentence should be "We took no picture." It don't seem right tho'. People just duzzn't talk like that, now do they?

We did another 37.6 miles today, and by golly we DID take a pic or two.

Sherman's Bridge, wooden planks and all:

A lovely, idyllic park in Lincoln where we ate lunch. Two great social statements are visible, the post saying "May peace prevail on earth" and the POW-MIA flag in front of the Post Office. Those who serve mankind deserve our thanks, those who paid the ultimate price deserve to be remembered too, and all of us should wish it wasn't necessary (but always will be).
