Specialized Diverge- all around bike?
I saw that my LBS has a '17 Specialized Diverge Sport demo on a closeout sale for $495. This bike originally sold for $1150.
Frame-Specialized A1 Premium Aluminum
Fork-Specialized FACT carbon w/ Zertz
Tires-Specialized Espoir Sport, 700 x 30c
Chainrings 50/34, 9-speed: 11-32
Brakes Tektro Spyre, mechanical-disc, 160/140mm rotors
Shifters Shimano Sora
Brakes Tektro Spyre, mechanical-disc, 160/140mm rotors
I have been thinking of getting a bike that could be used as an "all around" bike that I would use around town, some trails, lousy weather, etc, basically any time I don't want to take out my Roubaix.
Any thoughts on getting this as an all round bike? At that price I don't think I could go wrong.

A friend just got an '18 Diverge Expert ($4,000 worth) and I'd say it is definitely an all around bike. It's got the future shock that really smooths out the road. He used a demo while his was being delivered (took several weeks). He rode the hell out of that demo. Lots of gravel roads and paved roads. Broke spokes on two different occasions.
The only thing I'd be cautious about is buying a demo because you don't know how it's been treated. But that sounds like a deal.

At that price you should be able to ride it for a year or two and sell it for about what you paid. Go buy it!

Agree with the others - that’s a terrific deal for a great all rounder. I’d buy that on the spot, too!

Great all around bike
I had the 2016 version of this bike, and on road and off road it is pretty capable. Are you gonna win a crit on it? No. Are you gonna be taking it on mtb level terrain? No.
Are you doing regular road riding and gravel/dirt roads? You are gonna LOVE it.

So to update-
The bike is a 2016. It was a demo bike and looks brand new. I believe it may have been ridden only a few times at most. I went over today and bought it. I went out this afternoon and did about 24 miles.
First impressions- really nice bike. The ride is really comfortable, yet it handles well. I could imagine getting a lot of use out of it as it is a pretty versatile bike. I certainly could not resist the terrific price.

Good for you.
You have encouraged me.
Tomorrow I am off my L.B.S. to see what they have on special.
