Sorry... I forgot my camera/smartphone - it was left on the charger.

But as seen in the screenprint snapshot from MapMyRide, I did 22.25 miles in 1 hr 25 min around the western suburbs of Richmond, VA. It was great kicking it around "old school" style on an '85 Fuji road bike and seeing the looks from other roadies on their $5000 Cannondales and Specialized carbon framed bikes, and I'm keeping right up with them! LOL...

Got to the park early and wasn't expecting to do a very long ride because of the threat of another late morning of rain. I lucked out and was able to get in a 48 mile ride and getting back to the van before any rainfall. With yesterday's rain, some of the retention ponds in one of the exclusive subdivisions, adjacent to the park, must have come close to overflowing so they pumped the water into the park, flooding one the gullies that goes under the path. They had added about two inches of blacktop on the gully bridge when they paved it, a few weeks ago, but apparently it wasn't enough to keep the water from going over the bridge. So I'm going through the water (at a very slow pace) and see some debris on the bridge. Good thing I went to the shallower, left side of the bridge because when I got to the debris, it wasn't debris at all but a young, 3-4 foot gator sitting on the bridge. I moved a little faster at that point. After I got off the bridge, I pulled over to shake the water off my bike and heard some lady screaming. Apparently, she saw it too.

Way to go, Gator Bait!

Summer is fickle here in Northern Nevada. I got two blocks from home, turned around and went back to put on a long sleeved shirt. Even near the end of a 22.1 mile ride on the Roubaix after it warmed up a little I needed the long sleeves. Some friends I see quite often on the bike path had the same idea. It was a little breezy but overall a nice ride.

Loafed along a new-to-me segment of the local MUP for 20 miles, dodging rabbits, squirrels, tarantulas and skeeters. I can see what the MUP is so popular. Safer way to get around some areas that would otherwise be difficult or dangerous via public streets.

Early morning 50 mi. my slowest to date on this segment 2:58:05 16.9 avg.

My knees were barking almost from the start, couldn't sustain any serious effort for more than a couple of minutes at a time.

Nice 40 mile ride through parts of the park that's not flooded, an adjoining city park and the subdivision next to the park. We parked at the west entrance of the park this morning so we would have places to ride and not have to ride through the flooded areas to get to them.

A little cool this morning, upper 50s, I was gunna wear a t-shirt and jacket but online weather said clear and sunny by 10am. So I wore just a long sleeved bike shirt thinking the jacket would be too warm. By 10AM there was twice the cloud cover and just as cool. But I got in a nice 17.7 slower paced miles on the Sirrus.

Saturday did 33 miles on the Suncoast trail with a light rain at the end sprint. Sunday I joined a 41 mile ride in Apollo Beach that was all on public roads. The group stayed together doing a 19mph pace with a few sprint zones thrown in. Today is a "rest" day(gym day)before tomorrow's hill ride. Yes, Florida does have some bunny hills!

Sunday June 12 I rode to Cambridge, Ontario and did the 160 kms route. Between riding to the ride. riding the rideand then riding home I figure i put in about 210 kilometers. The north wind was brutal at the end though. I rode my converted MIEL Columbus SL bike with Dura Ace AX groupset on it.

Cheers

Cooler than expected this AM on bare arms (with funny tan lines). 22.9 on the Roubaix. I added about a mile going around the sticker infested section of bike path. No bike lane up Prater Way but the right lane is very wide. Then back onto the bike path.

30 miles Monday afternoon, with an hour break for a t-storm at the halfway turnaround point. Much cooler and more pleasant, albeit wetter, return trip, compared with the hot and sticky first leg.

I rode somewhere around 15-20 miles on Saturday, and found a place called Shade's Beach, East of Erie. It was in the 80s F, and that combined with slightly overdoing it Friday, I was dragging on the way back. Plus a real slight sunburn on my upper arms, but that'll probably convert itself to a tan. I have pasty looking legs, that aren't quite as pasty now, too.

Did 37 miles this morning on the "hilly" part of the Suncoast Trail - Anderson Snow Park to SR 98 and back. I'm beginning to climb noticeably better now with much less fatigue! Losing weight helps as well!

Strong morning winds the next few days (and today). 20.4 miles on the Allez. I'm at low energy (biorthythm) so I rode a little slower (mostly). The next couple of days will be back to long sleeves (mid 50s). Actually makes for a more comfortable ride (except for the wind).

Yesyesyes. I did ride today, thank you. First ride of 2016, 3 months to the day after shoulder replacement. When I set up the surgery, my surgeon said I could take the bike on the road 3 or 4 months after the surgery, and he'd be able to pin that down 3 months after the op. Just came back from the checkup, and based on my progress in PT, he gave me the go-ahead, if I started slow and built up slowly.

15-16 minutes. 2+-3+ miles? Beautiful weather - sunny, 78 degrees, 10 mph ESE wind (I went East-West-East). May not sound like much, but it's MUCH better than nothing. Yippee!

Once again, no ride. Yesterday it was the wife's truck that occupied my entire afternoon. 3 battery cables and a vacuum line. How that stuff just suddenly craps out all at once amazes me. Not ride today because with the remodel I just finished, we had to get new furniture. It's really the only logical thing to do I suppose. So now that the new stuff was delivered, I have to hang around and wait on the guys coming to get the old stuff. It would seem they run on the same schedule as the cable guy.

This has been a long series of events that I'm ready to put behind me and get back into my usual routine. I've been on the bike maybe 5 times in the last month.

I know I have one more day of this tomorrow, then I should be free for a while.

The north loop at the park is finally passable so my buddy Frank C and I did a 25 mile ride together followed by a 26 mile solo ride. If it continues to get hot and the humidity stays high, I'm not sure how many more of the 45-50 mile daily rides I'm going to be able to do. This heat is starting to get to me, more-so after then during the ride.

I discovered a flat thumb tack in the middle of my front tire from yesterday's ride. Swapped out the tube, but the delay shortened the ride to 17.2 windy, overcast miles on the Allez. All that effort of avoiding thorn covered areas and I pick up a thumb tack near home. Go figure.

17 miles Wednesday mid-morning. Thought it would be cooler, but weather sez it was 88F, 65% humidity and feels-like 95. Looking forward to hot and dry, should be more comfortable than warm and muggy.

I got passed by a young lady on a Cervelo who looked like she was barely trying.
