Do you think it necessary to have a trike subforum here? Do enough people use them to warrant a new area just for the trikes? I would probably have it put under recumbents but it would be its own separate subforum to post threads and all that.

Would this new sub-forum be for trikes, generally?
Or, just recumbent trikes? Which are vastly more popular now than traditional trikes. And selling much more heavily than 'bent bikes. I think recumbent trike riders are fine to be mixed in with the Recumbent forum. Many 'bent riders have both bikes and trikes.

Me too. There aren't all that many posts on the recumbent board now. Splitting off trikes would reduce the number of posts even more.

How about "high-speed elderly transport vehicles" or "geriatric race wheelchairs"?
I definitely see more differences that similarities between trikes and recumbents.
I am going to buy a tadpole trike and a pistol and get my carry permit.i guarantee you everyone will be on the lookout for my pennons when they know I am armed.

No problem with this, but the folks in the Bent forum are probably the determining factor on this topic. Why not do it!

Those need a fantasy subsection. Trikes are pretty much all my mom has ever ridden: for a year or so as a little kid; and for a few months at a seniors RV park in Flatlandia, Florida. But in her mind she rode hundreds of miles a day and those trikes never needed any maintenance or got flat tires, therefore all two-wheelers are silly, dangerous and too expensive because they need maintenance more often than once a decade.

However trikes are fitted in here, I think it is a great idea. Along with a noticeable increase in cycling in general, I seen many more trikes. For those people, generally older, who are interested in trikes, having a central location for information will serve them well.

Trikes cross over between utility bikes, adaptive cycling, recreational & family and possibly one or two other groups. The intended usage may be more important than the hardware itself.

I do read the Bent subforum regularly as a matter of interest, but if I really want to engage I visit BROL

Good point.

I don't think the Bent forum gets enough posts to need this sort of change. Also, there are non-recumbent trikes whose discussion may not fit there.

Those of us in the regular bicycle forms are "two tired" to answer your questions.
