Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm all over the place due to overcorrections. I was dangerously close to having to go to the ER for a shot of vitamin K then my next one was 1.3. Hopefully I'm between 2 and 3 tomorrow.

The Prairie Home Companion is magical in many ways.

I only went to a live performance once - the Third Annual Farewell Tour stop at Gammage Auditorium.

Just got a notice that my wife's Trek Emonda SL-7 has a due date of August 9. It was originally August 5 but had been pushed back to September and now it's been moved forward in the queue again.

So, the Emondometer is 8/9. Stay tuned...

WhyFi How's the new machine coming along? Is your bicep on your pull arm getting bigger yet? If not, you need to drink more espresso.

Lol. It's awesome - still loving it and still going to bed looking forward to the morning. Currently trying some beans from a small local roaster - not as fruit-forward as when I tried it in drip form, but really, really good.

Haven't checked my right arm size/strength, but maybe I should alternate left and right to be proactive

The only thing that's a downgrade from the old machine is the drip tray size. It's still fine for at least two day's use, but the old one was massive. The smaller tray actually motivated me to pick up the drainage bits when I was at Home Depot yesterday, though. If I have time, I might try to get that installed today.

I'm also still waiting on my reward points to 'mature' with the vendor from whom I purchased the machine; there's a 30-day pending period. Once the points are available, it'll knock 60 bucks off of a filtration system and I'll get the machine plumbed in. At that point, the pump won't ever need to buzz again and draining/filling will be a thing of the past - blissful!

Ugh is right. Someone else snoring drives me nuts. For some reason, I take it personally.

When I rode across the U.S. with 12 other people there were 3 bad snorers and another guy who was off and on. We discovered this on the first night. Tents provide very little sound insulation. By maybe the third day we adopted a segregation rule. Snorers had to pitch as far away from the non-snorers as reasonably possible. The snorers were all slower riders, which meant the non-snorers usually got the best spots at campgrounds. When we got rooms in hostels or motels, there was always snorer's room.
