Picked up this Schwinn Cimarron at a flea market over the summer. Walked away 3 times but could let it go. Pretty much as found.....the seatpost was shimmed and still to small so that has been corrected.

Judging from the posts so far it looks like we all had a pretty decent 2018. I did okay - after years of searching I finally found my grail, then unexpectedly found it yet again. 1963 and 1970. I've posted them separately but this is a good excuse for a group shot.

I needed another track bike like I needed another hole in my head, but it's been in my circle of friends since it was new and I have had my eye on it for years. When its last owner was downsizing he passed it to me at a very fair price. I'm embarrassed to admit that it's the only full Campy bike I have and only the second I've owned. I've only taken it on a few easy sunny day rides, and it will be mostly a wall hanger.

Well. Both Fiorini and Appel worked for Trek. Fiorini, as I mentioned above, left for Paramount; Appel left to work independently, a couple years before Fiorini left. There used to be a group of Trek workers who would hang out at Appel's shop on the east side of Madison. Joe Starck and Dave Tesch left to work for Masi. A couple, like me, stayed with Trek.

I really like that Raleigh, Straightblock.
Not a ‘find’ by definition since I initiated the request to have this frameset built for me back in the fall of 2017, it was delivered in February 2018. It was the highlight of the year, bikewise.
Never had a custom frame built to my specifications before.

in 2018 was a pivotal year for me personally, i got some bikes i really like, but i would have to say the most amazing find for me in 2018 was the 1988 Centurion/Zunow Ironman Master Pro frame ridden by Mike Pigg

The only bike I bought in 2018 was a rusty old ItalVega for $100 . I figured the parts were worth that. It came with a nice Zeus seat post . Then I was the only bidder on a nice set of Schwinn Paramount wheels and tires in NOS condition. Sale price $29.77 + 33.00 shipping!

This Mongoose ATB was rough but complete. It just had a regular stem and riser handlebar, not the bullmoose-style or whatever they're called, so I tried out a trekking setup, which I like a lot. That chainstay u-brake is pretty amazing; it has an early Deore 6-speed drivetrain. A Barkeeper's Friend paste application, followed by some Turtle Wax chrome cleaner and a cleaning/rebuild/repacking of all the important parts, and it shined up real nice, apart from some wearing away of the chrome near the bottom bracket. No corrosion, per se, but just didn't polish up like the rest of the frame. One of those nice projects where it's 90 percent elbow grease and a fresh set of cables and wires (and bar tape in this case) and you're good to go.

This summer I picked up 2 items. First one was a Guerciotti frame which was advertised in the For Sale section of this forum. The frame was originally listed as 1971. I think it's probably more 1973-1974 after doing a little research. However, it still is a really nice frame. Currently out in the garage being stripped down. I will then assess if the crown and dropouts are worthy of rechroming. Frame had been bead blasted and I'm not sure how aggressive the blasting was on the crown and dropouts.
Second item was a 1969-1970 Legnano Roma Olimpiade, which I had seen on both Craigslist and this site. There were a few threads on the bike, and I believe at least three of the threads were from the same individual, being the seller, with three separate user names.
There was quite a bit of interest in the bike, or so it seems from what I saw, but by early July I had contacted the seller and he informed me only one person had expressed an interest, and that person was going to break it down and sell it off for parts. So I headed up to South Jersey, and came back with it. One thing the seller neglected to disclose was a small handlebar ding in the top tube, paint has seen better days, but otherwise, it's nice. Going to do a little experimenting with some paint samples and see what I can do for a LIzard Green match to touch up some of the spots.

Just realized I only bought one bike last year, a Stella SX-73 with a hodgepodge of parts. After selling a few of them I am at net zero. So not really an amazing find, but a thrifty one.
