I mean, I'll take it over winter weather, but it's not exactly my favorite season.
It's always such a tease with our state park opening up for mountain biking on April 1, but the ground is really too soft to ride until May.

So I turned in my keys today. I'd rather be back in the field. This tool room job sucks. I kept hoping it would get better but the opposite is the reality. They just keep adding and adding more and more. Nah, that's enough. Put me back on a truck.
At least this way I'm only responsible for me and whatever mistakes I make. Not everyone else's.

I feel your pain. I don't know if it's a Midwest thing or what, but 55-65 degree days followed by several days of wind and rain is hard on the brain. I'm sure that's what threw me into a funk a week or so ago. My wife and I had several warm and relatively less windy rides in a row and then it all went to ****. As I descended in to a light depression, I started over-eating and eating junk food which creates a deepening spiral that's hard to halt.

Ha. There a local cyclist that I've bumped in to and chatted with a few times on the road, and I've been following her on Strava for a few years. She puts in a good amount of mileage, but never struck me as being terribly strong (even relative to weight). Seeing her trainer workout this morning, though, I might have to rethink that - she might put a hurtin' on some of y'all 
. For reference, these are 3 min on, 3 min off and, if I were to guess, I'd say that she's in her mid-50s and ~135-140lbs.

You know, there are times when I like the hunger of being on a restricted calorie count, as wrong and weird as that sounds. But lately, it's just been constant cravings, which is completely different and annoys the **** out of me.

I picked up a Forerunner 35 on sale from Garmin. Nice for the no sensors on the bike thing and commuting. I feel naked without a wristwatch, but I'm not wearing the TAG Heuer for wrenching. If the Garmin gets busted up, it's no big deal. Bonus, it tethers to my phone, so I can decline incoming calls without a fuss.

I'm with you - it's not quite light enough (or warm enough) when I would prefer to ride in the AM. Most days lately, I've been starting work around 5:30 so that I can bag off for a couple of hours during the day if I have no meetings. Most days, meetings pop up. Agree on the wind too - I don't know why, but effort is perceived to be so much harder in the wind for the same output level and wunderground is a liar. There have been plenty of days where the "3MPH S" wind is more like 10 from every direction.
Yesterday would have been a great day to ride if not for the rain.

Yeah, it's gotta be good chili, preferably homemade; a can o' Hormel isn't crave-worthy. Messy isn't too much of a problem, but I don't find chilidogs any less fussy to eat than a dragged-through-the-garden dog.

I'd pull her up all coughing and blowing nasty chlorine water out of her nose and she'd just jump in again. Then there was snorkeling, swim team, Sea Scouts, Dive Master, sailing instructor, the coursework, the big research ships, sonar surveys, the models, the papers, and the whole academic game. It's been all about being able to live and work on the water and saving the fish and the people who depend on them.
Sorry to go on and on, I just love this girl.
Oh, and she's getting married next month, but we won't be there, which is a great way to save a bundle.
