Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Given the salary cap, I don't think that that's a small feat, even if it has happened a few times in recent memory. It's a lot of money, a lot of salary cap manipulation, and probably involves trading a boatload of future draft picks. Maybe more teams will be willing to sellout their future for a legitimate shot at a title, but man would it suck to sellout for a one-year window and then fall short.
Stafford had choice of a sort - the first option had been Carolina but he asked not to, and then Cabo happened. Regardless though, when I started watching, the conventional wisdom was that it was impossible. Now it's three of the last seven. That starts to look like a trend, and pretty good odds if you're in the position to try (or can convince yourself you are).

Wrong attitude. WhyFi is spot on. 70 Cat 4 and 5 racers on a track with no features whatsoever, is going to be hairy. All you need to do is watch your front wheel and have eyes in the side of your head. There is no other thing that needs to be said, because you really have no idea what you're in for. One other piece of advice. Watch your front wheel.

I think my coach has told me that about 6 times tonight. Between watch my wheel and get in the front pack before the group splits.

I think I am going back to my original plan, not crashing, If I end up getting lapped so be it.

edit: I’ll be like Ricky Bobby after his crash.

Lol. I'm more worried about them. Unfortunately, you're not a genetic freak that can stay off the front, away from trouble, and solo to victory. Endeavor to do your best, to stay safe and to learn.

Please do be careful. It is truly not fun going down hard, and it could be very hard at race speed.

Like hitting a VDOT sign going 22-25 mph……….

If it gets sketch I can always pull into the pit and say nope not for me. I’m not too proud for that.

Making it to the pit road might be the problem.

This was a 58, so basically my size. It was interesting to actually work on and ride one - I've never known how these things fit. This worked out to be a pretty standard 58ctc seat tube and 57 top tube.

But yeah, it's loads of drop. Not too bad on the aerobars.

Related, I test rode it and shifting when on the aerobars is apparently learned skill that I don't have

Or podium, I just don’t want to kill myself doing it, and I have no strategy at all, other than try and get into the front pack early and if a group breaks away stay with them, I don’t plan on chasing a single person making a breakway attempt.
I'd lower your expectations. For a first race I'd aim for not crashing, and not getting pulled. Anything above DFL is a bonus.

The year before last, I was rotating among socks with 2" and 4" cuffs until I noticed a Neapolitan ice cream tan starting to develop. I went to exclusively 4" after that.

I just came from a saltwater fly fishing haven. I was seeing cross face tan lines on occasion. Hadn't seen it before. Another thing I hadn't seen before is fisherman camo.
