I'm looking at getting a 2019 Jamis Coda sport, it is a chrome moly frame. Which I think is good, it's also 21 in frame. I'm not sure if that's good for someone who's 5'11. I'm not too familiar with the Jamis brand. I was just wondering your guys opinions. The price is $300, retail it was 549.99

It's a perfectly adequate hybrid with 3x8 Shimano drivetrain, trigger shifters and v-brakes. It has a long wheelbase and long top tube. What's not to like? 21" should fit you. If it is in clean and undamaged condition, you've done okay (full market price) at $300.

this is my 2019 Jamis Coda Sport...it's been a wonderful bike that I have put close to 3000 miles on it
I'm 5'10" and the size 19 is perfect for me
$300.00 sounds like a really good deal if the bike has been taken care of.

Is the 19" consider a medium or large? I'm worried I will get there and the bike will be a bit too big.

I believe that 17 is medium and 19 is large

Here are the dimensions in question. I'd say that the 19 is medium, and the 21 is large based on the top tube length

21 inch perfect is for you. You are worried it will be too big? 21 is the large size. I had a 21 inch Coda...... and I'm 5'8" and it was slightly large, but I liked the longer wheelbase/toptube because my torso is on the longer side.
They are good bikes, the frame is good..... mine was good until I gave it to my daughter's BF... and told him not to leave it outside... in Oakland, CA. Never saw it again.

27 lbs is pretty heavy if you are wanting to ride fast and far for fitness in a constantly rolling terrain. However if you are just riding for pleasure only it'll probably serve you well if everything is working at the time you buy it. Any thing that needs fixing on it will have you investing more than it's worth.

Which would be okay if you were the one that put the mileage on those consumables. IE, chain, gears, cables, brake pads and sometimes shifters. However if the seller is giving you something that is soon going to need something replaced, then deduct that cost from your offer. IMO.

I'm 5'10" and I tested a 2019 21" Jamis Coda Comp. It fit me fine with a couple minor adjustments and that bike was a joy to ride.
I should have bought it when I got back from the ride but wanted to think about it. Unfortunately (for me) it was gone when I went back the next day.....

21" is probably the perfect size for you, unless you have some strange body type, like extremely short legs for your height.

Jamis is a fine brand that has been making bicycles for a long time. The only problem with the Coda Sport is that it was the lowest-priced model in the Coda lineup and so they used lower-tier components to keep the price down. The good news is that if the bike fits you, you'll love the way it rides and you can upgrade components as they wear out. You'll probably ride that sweet DB chromoly frame forever.

Whether it's worth $300 is entirely dependent on condition. If it's in good shape and you don't have to replace much, it's a bargain. Go for it!

I found an older one for a friend in 19" for use as a work bike. The older ones use a Reynolds 520 main triangle and it rides pretty nice, much nicer than something like an old Trek 750. With all the new parts its not heavy at all, even with the big iron rack. The original parts were not terrible, but this is nicer IMO.

Well I don't know about that. If there is a list of "Holy Grail" hybrids, the Trek 750 would surely be on it. Mine is a '91, which has a True Temper AT DB chromoly frame, fully lugged and handbuilt in Wisconson. It was the same frame as the venerable Trek 520. Even after they went to TIG welding the following year, the 750 and 790 were always pretty special frames.

Don't get me wrong - I was actually trying to buy a Coda Sport Femme for my wife at one point. All of my bikes are full chromoly and I agree the Coda Sport is a great frame for the money. I would have no problem if one came my way and they're definitely worth a proper build. Nice job on yours.

It's not mine, I got it for a friend. The nicest Multitracks had True Temper OX, which is OK but not too amazing. I have one, and while its a nice bike, its not the liveliest, and I wouldn't expect it to be. I've ridden both and can only give my opinion, you obviously have yours.
