Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

RX812 derailleur with 11speed SLX flatbar shifter

Hello Bike Forum Community,

I would need help regarding component compatibility.
I am thinking to convert my Canyon grail Al 7 to flat bar configuration.
The cassette is an SLX M7000 11-42.
I was wondering if 11 speed SLX mtb shifter would be compatible with the RX812 derailleur.

Has anyone experience with such conversion?

Best regards,
Miklos

11 speed road and mtb shifters have different cable pull rates. Not compatible without something like a Tappan.

Certainly not cheap, but these are the simplest solution.

May be cheaper to buy an mtb derailler and lever.

Bikes: Co-Motion Cappuccino Tandem,'88 Bob Jackson Touring, Co-Motion Cascadia Touring, Open U.P., Ritchie Titanium Breakaway, Frances Cycles SmallHaul cargo bike. Those are the permanent ones; others wander in and out of the stable occasionally as well.

As FYI. We have done a few conversions for customers at our shop, but mostly flat bar to drop bar. The frame geometry for flat bar and drop bar frames is often quite different. Often finding the right stem length and rise can be hard to achieve to get a comfortable riding position.

What Bryan C said above is correct also. You would have to go back to 9-speed for road and MTB components to have the same pull ratios.

SL-RS700 shifter should work with your GRX derailleur. Also matching brake lever BL-RS600.
thinking of a similar conversion of my Revolt 0 for city use

Thank you all for the details and recommendations!!!
I will try SL-RS700 shifter.

Regarding break levers. Can I use mtb SLX levers or better to use BL-RS600?
