That was a warm spot but it was chilly up there(relatively, high 50’s with wind) Turned out to be not too bad on the descent though.

Thanks for posting that! Hope you enjoyed it. I went to grad school in Tucson and that was about the most fun I ever had on a bike - I want to do that ride again someday with my wife. You studly guys should cruise through the U of A campus. I remember spring

Thanks for posting up this thread. Even if you couldn’t make the moonlight ride happen, your photos gave me a nice nostalgia rush. I practically lived on my bike during my time in Tucson. I’ll have to make it back sometime with my wife but I imagine a few things may have changed a little bit since the mid ‘80s.

Enjoyable thread, and this picture also made me realize how big the downtube is on a Cannondale. John Wayne often managed to make even his six-shooters look small. Same feeling looking at the "tiny" shifters attached to that Cannondale!

A few pics from the trip
Back home now and sifted through some pics and hopefully got some stuff not duplicated earlier. Day 1 may have been the hottest (I skipped last day tho to visit family), involved a loop through Saguaro NP East and then an out and back toward Colossal Cave park.
Day 2 was a Tour de Tucson with a ride around the bike loop with a dip into town for coffee then lunch. The day also included a detour to Andy Gilmour's frame building and repair shop which was really cool (but no pics by me). Day 2 was pretty windy but thanks to some expert local guidance, we spent very little time in the wind and had probably 20 miles of tailwind at the end of the day. At one point I was cruising along behind the group just riding 20+ mph no handed for about 10-15 minutes.
Turnaround point on day 1 ride. I believe this might be Pistol Hill. Short stiff climb up to here
Transfers made in a pickup sized just right for our wheelbases, except for Doc's super long tourer
Day 2 outbound on the Loop
We cut through the U of Arizona campus to avoid a long pull into a ferocious headwind.
Day 2 homestretch with some soft light and sweet tailwind.
