Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

121 degrees on the other side of the valley from here. It's the highest temperature ever recorded in L.A. county. Amazing level of suck.
Our little window air can't handle it, keeps kicking off the compressor. There's another window air in the back room/office but it trips the circuit breaker after a few minutes.

Ideally said device might also have a rear-facing camera so encounters from behind can be recorded in their entirety.

One close call yesterday that motivates this was not mine but a friend’s. We were on the last climb of the day and the road was totally straight. A big black pickup with big side mirrors buzzed us. I was near the white line but my friend was in the middle of the lane. Truck passed us way too close at very high speed and from my vantage point came a few inches from hitting the back of his head with passenger side mirror. There was no reason for such a fast and close pass as there was no oncoming traffic. Driver was either careless or a menace, maybe both.

Any suggestions on a budget camera to record my demise so my family knows whom to blame??
The problem that you're going to have is the problem that I had - none of the cheapies has a battery worth a damn. Frankly, even most of the not-cheapies has a **** battery - even GoPro and the like are going to be under 120min. Battery life is the major reason that I went with the Cycliq Fly 12 - I was able to do the double-metric and still have juice left over (if you use the headlight at the same time, it's a whole different ball game).

Got our cv tests back and my wife and I are both negative. We’re thinking we’ll go out to a bar to celebrate.

I agree. I’m supposed to start a tour across PA next Saturday. The first three days are on the GAP trail. We’ll see how things go after that in good ol’ Pennsyltucky.

By opening the door?” I paraphrased this: “No person open any door on a motor vehicle unless and until it is reasonably safe to do so and can be done without interfering with the movement of other traffic…” Shut him down quick
Road is 1 way each direction like 98% of the roads we ride on. We are allowed as much of the lane as necessary. But a small percentage of motorists are French showers and quoting them the law is not likely going to help. Similarly we have a 4 foot passing law which is not routinely followed either.

you have nothing to worry about, you're well over 30. Also, how is it possible for Knox County hospitalizations to go up 9 when there were 5 new hospitalizations and no deaths? Where did the extraneous 4 hospitalizations come from?

I strongly dislike the feeling of cornering on a squared-off tire.

COVID has certainly been a focal point, but I think lots of ugliness is nearer the surface for many reasons and some people are interpreting political messaging as license to stop adhering to social norms or act out. It’s very scary and I’m glad I live where I do. I don’t feel any more threatened on the roads than usual.

They need rjones28 to compile the official data, probably.

Have you tried rubbing ice cubes on him? When my ac was out due to repairs that’s what we did. Our boy loved it. Try on the top of the head first.
