This is a cautionary tale. Ask first what you are getting into before you leave the store. Also learn to do maintenance as it's waay cheaper

To be sure, I'm betting it's a great tune up and now bike runs well (it is an impressive example of a Technium) and it has nice extras (saddle/bar wrap/saddle bag). But basically, seller is selling the bike for $40 and rest of price is cost of the tune up.

https://tucson.craigslist.org/bik/d/...437673138.html

1988 Raleigh Technium Tri-Lite (Amazing Conditions) - $435Vintage 1988 Raleigh Technium Tri-Lite in excellent conditions. Has recently had a major tune up at the shop ( Receipt Shown). Comes with all accessories and extras shown. A really vintage bicycle but I no longer ride anymore.

I get the extra costs for truing two wheels but $40 to install cables and housing and then another $80 for the tune up???

PS: Are Gatorskins really $57??

For a house, my understanding is, you make money if you fix stuff up, like if you spend $10K to renovate your kitchen, the potential sales price increases by $20K.

But not so with bikes this guy would have been better off selling the bike as-is for 80-100 bucks, and let a hobbyist put in the elbow grease.

Or maybe it's the same if the cost of fixing up the bike is your own sourced/spare parts and 'free' labor

I'm confused since the bike she's sitting on isn't one of the ones for sale, "is this considered clickbait". Just asking incase, you know, I click on the ad

At least the seller is upfront about this "feature".
Well, you have to anchor the torque arms somehow. There are more elegant solutions, though. Seller must have gotten a deal on commas.

Question!

If you worked in a bike shop didn't someone else who worked there say "Gee, something looks off with your forks???"

I used to work in a bike shop and pieced this gem together after I got a herniated disk in my back and needed a road bike that didn't make me bend over so much. It was better, but my back still didn't like it, so I'm selling it. I am just selling it for the cost of the parts I used. 22" / 56 cm frame Easton rims Continental tires Sora rear derailleur Shimano 105 front derailleur Easton EA50 MonkeyBar handlebar Easton EA70 stem Fomtor stem riser (easy to remove if you don't want it) New cables and housing New brake pads Thermalite pedals Diamondback racing saddle It's freezing outside, but this is a pretty cool deal

This was a wild one I missed.
reportedly 3 bidders, went up above $20k then the retractions. One bidder remained at the opening bid. Auction ended.
Quite a bit of hubbub down the digital hallway.

The photography world version of "just tuned and ready to ride" when the fork is obviously bent 4+ inches.

I see so many nice tripods like this. its really a shame

So, seller paid $800 when purchased from a "collector" but willing to sell these highly sought after Olympic bikes for $400?

Made in Canada? And "full seze"? These are "Track bikes"?
