Introduction of a C&V fan
Hi there,
Since I'm reading and learning all this stuff on the forums on 'how to do' and admiring all the stunning C&V bikes you all post up here, I might as well introduce myself on the C&V forum.
My name is Don, I like old roadbikes, based in Amsterdam where bikes are a part of life just like oxygen and H2o. I'm already thankful to the forums for the stuff I learned from you all. I have noticed you like pictures, but I have failed in posting these. Somehow my files are not accepted...
Is there an easy way of posting pics that I am to dumb to see? Would be happy to take your tips!
Cheers

Welcome, Z, a member from a very favorite city of mine.
You can either link photos from other sites like flickr OR upload them to an album on this site. Maybe you have to be a paid-up member to do the latter, I don't remember. In any case that's a good idea, cheap, removes the obtrusive ads, and allows you to post in Buy and Sell.
In the top menu bar you'll see a tab called 'Community' that you can pull down to 'Albums.' There you'll find 'create new album,' and there you go. Upload the pics there, then when you want to post one, grab the link from it and add it to your post. (This may mean having two browser windows open.) It's a little clunky and there are some things about it I don't understand, like the sizing which seems kind of arbitrary, but it does work.
Looking forward to seeing what you post, though I've a pretty good idea what it might be...

I feel welcome already! Thanks for the quick replies.
I've tried creating an album, but I get the message that I don not have access...
Think creating a flickr account is gonna be the answer.

Okay, then access to creating an album must be only to paying members. Which you may want to be, after a while.

No ads. The best part of being a member. Well, maybe second best, next to supporting this forum with a paid membership. Welcome to the forum Zieleman.

You need to re-do the links so they point to image files, e.g. https://www.flickr.com/photos/8584005..._picture_1.jpg or some such.

Where do I find the correct URL that points to the specific image file, or how do I create it? I've tried pasting the pic name, with/without .jpeg behind the first couple of URL's.
Funny how this stuff makes me feel very uneducated

Nice! (So nice you had to post it twice, eh? The edit function will allow you to delete the duplicate.)
There's an ongoing 'Show us your Dutch bike' thread where that would be a nice contribution. BTW keep your eye out for a 52cm KZ for me, would you?

Thanks for the tip, I'll check out that thread! Saw a 52/53 ish Zieleman on a Dutch version of CL, which was advertised for about 2 months asking 250 euros. Had chrome lugs, but the colour and decals where not excepionally fashionable. Also groupset was not high-end (shim biopace or something?) It disappeared 2 weeks ago...
Cheers

Welcome Don... Nice Zieleman!
Do you have other Dutch bikes in your stable?
Was that picture taken in Amsterdam-Noord?? (reminds me of an area I rode, heading towards Marken/Volendam)

Nice ride there.
Someone should nudge lotek...he is a major Zieleman fan. Lots of fans of Dutch frame builders here. I have a DeReus and a Springfield in my stable.

Thanks for welcoming me. These pics were taken to the east of Amsterdam, near a town called Muiden. The area you're referring to is one very familiar to me. It's called Waterland and you don't need a translation for that. I bet you also know why it's called that! I ride there whenever the wind comes from the north/nw/ne. If you like I'll take a picture there next ride.

Ok then I'll post more when I get the chance. I'm not an expat btw, but a proper dutchie. Have a special place in my heart for bikes made in Amsterdam. But Alkmaar is cool as well! Is it true you have a Vittorio in you collection?
