I fit the adjuster into one of the original Mafac hoods I've got and it appears this is the way it is supposed to go/be- only the smaller diameter bit fits into the lever top.

Does anyone have an 8-speed wheelset, using Campy Chorus/Record hubs with Exa-Drive cassette body? Hopefully 36h, but 32h would also work.

Failing that, a long shot, but how about just a rim? 32h Campagnolo Omega 19, silver anodized. Clincher.

Thanks!

Nope, not compatible. The set you shared is a tubular set, with a rear hub threaded for a freewheel. My request clearly stated I was searching for a clincher rear or set, with a cassette application. There were numerous follow-up posts with photos approximating what I was looking for. Anyway, my LBS has been on the case, as was noted in a later post, so no worries.

The thread O.D. is 34.8mm. SheldonBrown.com says that's British.
Sprocket size: I'm not picky, but I'm replacing a 13~28. Close to that would be grand.

Thanks for the quick response!

currently 6s indexed. I cleaned out the shifters after i got the bike. Started working. Never opposed to friction.

no brand preference. I see some really cheap stuff on Amazon. And interloc must be good- it’s expensive. So I’m fishing here for something functional until I build up a QR wheel.

What's wrong with a threaded axle and a tracknut?

I had a similar situation (exploding freewheel). I don't remember the make, but it was a generic one and I've put it on the wheel maybe 15 minutes before. Completely new. I was waiting on the crossroads to take a turn and then one of the sprockets shattered when I pressed harder on the pedals. Just like that. Very unpleasant, especially that I was pressing on the pedals harder to make it before the approaching car. Luckily at this point I was about 5-10 minutes walk away from home. I tend to have some tools with me, but usually not a spare freehub.
I've got in total 5 wheel sets (3 on bicycles at the moment, 2 with freewheels, 1 with a casette), all of them use track nuts. Just my personal preference. I specially looked for hub versions with threaded axle and nut and converted some as well. On the bright side, never had any other freewheel explode on me. I use Suntour (New Winner) on the Sunday rider, Shimano (casette) on my commuting bike and Shimano (freewheel) on the guest / spare bike.
Good luck with the freewheel. From the posts above, it looks like someone has already contacted you

This is the second freewheel I've had just kind of fall apart. The bearings start falling out, then the shell holding the sprockets comes off the internal shell holding the pawls. Then all the sprockets slide out board, and if you're not careful the chain drops behind the sprocket hub.....
To get the internal shell off the hub, I ended up using my vice.... after the square bits that the removal tool sits in broke off.... Good Times!

-- needed a pic for my abbreviated strava post....

??? WTH ??? That's just wild, it sounds like the lock ring on the freewheel problem. I guess one learns the whole life, but it's really weird thing to happen.

That’s why I like self extractors, an extra Allen wrench isn’t that heavy and beats walking home.

118 Stronglight spindle
M951 V-Brakes

I have cash or I have a decent buildup in my parts bin to trade - some good JIS spindles in ~115mm, a cool pewter finish 94bcd 42T chainring that doesn't play well with my cranks, a couple of decently shiny deore FDs, a brand new brooks C15, set of Tektro CR720 brakeset, Nitto UI-12 100mm, VO Crazy Bars (removed ~8mm from each end)

Gully: I might be able to hook you up with one pair of the XTR V-brakes, if I have a full set it could be your lucky day, but don't hold your breath...also gonna take at least one day for me to home in on the item(s), so please stand by. I'll send you a PM with the news, whatever I find.
UPDATE: I found something, will send you a PM with the details

Cursing?

There's not a lot of space there for the chain on the small cog to clear the seat/chain stay, but maybe you don't use that gear.

Ohh, those brakes are tempting. I may be one of the few that likes the aesthetics of linear pull over cantilevers. If no one else desperately needs them I have a place for them.

i used my Phone-a-Friend for a motor vehicle pick up. anyways - I got a freewheel now.
as far as a lock ring goes - it's a freewheel.... so i dunno... I mean - when you say lock ring, I think cassette. I'm not saying there's not a ring to disassemble / service the bearings in the freewheel. I never had the freewheel apart for this bike. I picked it up used over the summer. The other freewheels I've used, I've only hosed them out with a solvent or WD40, allowed them to sit overnight, then lubricate with some kind of heavy gear oil.Usually let it sit over night flat on the work bench.

But this is the second time in about 20 years I've had a freewheel disassemble and drop ball bearings all over the road. When I upgrade the wheelset I'll be going to a cassette/freehub deal, for sure.

It's normally really easy to overhaul a freewheel: a much better way to clean one out and install fresh and thick grease. Just use a hammer and punch on the lock ring, which is usually left-hand thread.
