Finally, detailed pics of the Davidson Impulse
Despite having this bike for years now I've never actually done a detailed photoshoot of it. Had some free time this morning so I took it outside and grabbed some pics. Sorry some are a bit soft, one should not handhold a macro setup early in the morning while pinging on way too much coffee, LOL!
Anyway, this is one of my top bikes for riding. Always a joy and never lets me down.
The lady I got this from had a matching pair. Looking at the old pics of the other one it appears that the 600 Tricolor group got split between the bikes. I got everything but the Tricolor brakes.
Gotta grab that garage door shot, LOL!
One day this may must finally get a brand new groupset.
Kicking up the ride a notch with a preferred Kurve saddle.
Beautiful Shimano 600 brakes.
Simple headbadge
Hardly a mark on the shifters
Tricolor, mmmm.....
Not mint but close
Well put together frame
Working well for only being 8 speeds

Hard to believe this one looked like this, only worse, when I brought it home. What looked like scratches all over it. Rusted chain, trashed tire, nothing would shift, etc. Still I could see the gem underneath.
After an initial clean and polish.

I won (in a raffle) a very similar Davidson, though I didn't have to do much cleaning. Yours really looks like you've saved it from the abyss.
Really love the way these frames ride! I put my lightest handbuilt wheels on mine (CTL370 rims on lightweight hubs), since it came with tubulars.
These frames really don't seem to have any deficiency in the way that they perform!

wow @jamesdak, that's a gorgeous bike and a great set of pics. Thanks for posting, I've always loved that era of Shimano 600 parts. And that paint...stunning.

So true! I suspect now that I am done (I hope) with getting any new to me bikes this one may finally get an "upgrade". Although it works so well as is and was plenty fast enough when I made a run on it to get it into the 19 mph club. I've just always been curious if a black groupset and cockpit on it would really make that pink frame pop!

I had a blue/silver fade, same frame, with 8 speed DA. What a great bike. For me it just didn’t quite make the tire clearance cutoff, but seeing yours makes me wish it was still around.
Btw that cassette is pretty far from dirty! I know you ride your bikes a lot but it doesn’t show.

Same/same paint? Just came across yer old post. This was built by Davidson’s painter dwn. on Elliott, who moved to Bellingham (Home of Allsop/Softride) bike was sold to a friend in Astoria who brought it back up to Bellingham - kind of a full circle? It is avail. to whom may complete the circle or further the story. Makes a nice pair huh?

Er, sorry?
I was complimenting the OP's bike.
Not that yours has anything wrong.
I know where a DAVIDSON pantographed stem is.
