vintage-trek.com appears to be gone
I went looking for the component dates page on vintage-trek.com. The site appears to be gone (redirects to the hosting service). Hopefully it will be back.
Fortunately, it seems the page I wanted is in the Wayback Machine. Here's from earlier this month:
https://web.archive.org/web/20221101...nent_dates.htm
Here's the serial number page:
https://web.archive.org/web/20221031...ialNumbers.htm

Could be worth mentioning on CABE or Paceline, as the webmaster/owner is likely active there as well. It could be the owner does not know there is an issue.

I discovered that today. I really hope very hard that it's back up soon. I'm trying to date & spec what looks like a very old Trek MultiTrack on CL for stupid cheap.

Somebody mentioned it in a Facebook group I am in. The poster seemed to know the owner of the website and he has not been responding to emails. At least not as of this weekend.

Vintage Trek is probably one of the best vintage catalog sites to navigate. Hopefully it will be saved because I use it a lot.

I haven't really used that site in quite awhile, but it's obviously a national treasure, that we need to protect & preserve. Let's all hope (& pray if applicable) the guy who's missing gets himself found, and stays in good shape. 🤔😉✌️

Oh no. This site helped in the purchase of my Trek 957...and even further back with the 9xx series mountain bikes. I hope it is resolved soon!

The name at the bottom of the vintage trek matches a name I recalled from the CR group. I quit that list the same day that I left the IBOB list, but assume you could still search the archive for his email address.

Retrobike Trek catalog link: https://www.retrobike.co.uk/gallery2...ek/Catalogues/
Having the catalogs still online somewhere else is cool, but the part of vintagetrek I used the most was their model/year/color text database since it could narrow a search quickly.

Has anyone heard from Skip to see if he's OK?
It's been quite a while since I've talked to him.

Interestingly enough, I stumbled on his announcement of the Vintage Trek website in the old CR archives:

I posted a quick inquiry regarding Skip on the Classic Rendezvous list. Hopefully someone there will have been in touch with him and know how he's doing.
