A couple of questions on wheel lacing...

Hi,

I'm completely new to this. I originally intended to pay 40€ per wheel for someone else to do it but then though, **** it, why not learn something new & do it myself?
From what I can tell it's basic maths with a large helping of patience. Not much else. I'm pretty good with my hands so why not give it a go?

So, questions...

1) Are there any obvious tips to doing this? You know, stuff you'd never think about at the beginning that become frustratingly clear when you're knee deep in the project.
2) Slightly vaguer, this one...my wheel/hub sizes will be different due to the Nexus Internal hub. Will it be easy enough to find a matching pattern for both wheels?

Sorry for the lack of pics. I'm a noob here & still 3 posts away from gaining the privilege of pics posting, but I'm working on it

The correct place to post this is in the bicycle mechanics forum. Not that we don't build wheels, but our experience is limited compared to the vastness of knowledge floating around there.

Ah, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Frustratingly, it won't let me post in that thread, even though there are no URLs or JPGs in the post. Weird!

If there are any mods reading this, can you move this thread over to the "Mechanics" section?
