Rusty Miyata 710 Frame - What would you do?

'85 710 frame, fork with more sheet, surface rust than the cancerous deep rust...served well through 5 winters on the east coast, true with no serious dings. There is some sentimental value there, the bike was primary transportation for a few family members.

I was thinking about sending it out to be refurbished with a cool paint job, rebuild it as a FG/single speed. But, I don't need one more bike project...and I would probably just end up selling it at a loss. I've also thought about making it into lawn art, hang some planters on it and watch it decompose - but it's not much of a looker. Then I think, someone might want this frame...I'll throw it up on eBay or CL for next to nothing...or find a bike church somewhere and donate it.

What would you do with it?

You don't sound too attached, if the surface rust is real bad I might sand it off and sell the bike as a "project bike." People like projects and chances are it will go to someone who is going to cherish it a little more than you do.

It's still a Miyata 710; they were splined, triple-butted CroMo triathlon frames, and quite nice. Depending on when & where you sell it, you might be surprised by what you'd get for it.
