Great video. We definitely have a winter. Its 53 degrees and raining right now. May go out for a ride later, just to feel like Hampsten did on the Gavia in 88.

The new intro with a silouette of @Ygduf is a nice touch as well.

Sort of - I was in my Seattle kit, but the race was the now-defunct Salinas Crit in 2013.

Pic taken shortly before I DNFd because Chuck Hutch was attacking constantly and I couldn't hang.

my fave comment was the one who called you out for low subs compared to tyler. you've got weak youtube game!

it's so weird how people are so defensive over someone they barely know. he seems like a nice enough guy and seems sincere, fans just get too weird

let's just remember his vid last year at the red kite bump where he was in a little chase with Jeff, me (in 2nd race), and some other rando. The commentary on the video was all "I was feeling good." as we all died slow deaths and Jeff eventually just rolled away from us. Sincere is a spectrum.

I like VC and enjoy his videos, but hes the epitome of this meme sometimes.

Though to be fair I notice the same pattern with a lot of riders that were always on the stronger side moving up through the ranks. Being weak forces you to learn from mistakes that you'd otherwise get away with

I believe you mean "turin" lol.
Still haven't seen that video, but I have been enjoying his vids lately. I start them in the morning intending to just watch 2 minutes and always get sucked in. Prob just cuz I am familiar with him, the races, and a lot of the players. Otherwise I prob wouldn't watch so much.

Ha yeah, it looks like he's gotten better judging by his videos, but I'm always like, damn if I had anywhere near that power I wouldn't be a struggling 2 for so long.

speaking of the VC...what races does this dude do with such small field sizes? are all races in CA like this? i'd quit racing before having to regularly do 10 person fields.

We have too many races out here during the season, so some of them have tiny attendance. That's my theory as to why some get 50+ fields and some have 5.

Even some of the big races aren't at great venues or have great prizes, while some of the tiny races are at great venues but still have tiny prizes and are far away from everyone.

The big issue is distance and scheduling. Most of these RR's are a few hours drive from the cities, and if they're scheduled the same week as another race; especially if its a local crit then few show up to these. At least in SCNCA where every city has 2-3 'training crits' most racers hate anything with elevation.

....or they're like me and can't convince their wife to spent a whole day driving to a remote location so she can take a 2 hour nap during my race.

I did a race last year in Texas, the one where he raced in the rain. He’s the most famous Cat 2 in the world. People were getting pictures with him. I only came out and raced that day because he was going to be racing. Got to say hi to him during the cool down lap.

It would be really weird to be that “average” and famous at the same time (fame being relative). When I say “average” I acknowledge he is way better than me. I’m below average.

We've been getting rain here lately and with the amount of races on our calendar, the rain is more than enough to push people to race "next weekend". Problem is, it's gonna rain next weekend, too.
