Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Same w/ the ACC. It's idiocy in my opinion. Why bother having a season when half of the P5 isn't going to?

I need to cut the "grass" in the back yard, but a community of cicada killers is very active there right now. They are supposed to be benign insects and reluctant to sting, but boy do they look intimidating and I will have to trim right over their burrows. Maybe I should do it at night.

They have always been in my parents yard ever since I was a kid. I just finished cutting their grass, and sure enough they were still there. The males get in your face to see if you are a female, then they fly away. They are scary looking but harmless.

Ok, I will take the bait. Because driving to Mt Mitchell would take 10 hours and require overnight accommodations for 2 nights and that’s a bigger deal than the 15 minute drive to work.

Actually, the main reason for the pencil, despite my desire to say that one would use the cassette to sharpen the pencil, is that when one has one of those accidents that happen with those tapes, and 18 feet of tape are sticking out of the shell, you use the pencil to carefully windd it back in (making sure to not let it get twisted).

Obviously, but as far as risk of contracting COVID goes, I'd say your risk is actually greater seeing patients than a deliberately isolated car trip.

Pending getting everything straight, but probably, and yes. I've just heard so much good about his work, and stainless makes a ton of sense for gravel. As for the can't imagine custom, that goes through my head, but is it really any different from committing to another frame? If I got an Aspero and then realized after a year that I didn't like it, it's still a wasted frame purchase, and I don't know that it's more likely with one geometry than another. It's the kind of thing that makes bike (and laptop) purchases very difficult for me.

That's from not running enough; I forget the explanation but it's about the synchrony of your abs with your stride. That takes a few months of running to get through and then you're just done with it.

eBay finally allowed me to report that my bike stuff shipment was returned by USPS. Seeing if the Taiwan seller will re-ship it.

Wow! I don't think I had heard that term since I was a kid. A cousin of mine was big into insects back then.

I guess the difference between a custom and an off the shelf frame is that, with a custom, I would be the one signing off on the frame specs so if it turns out to be rubbish then it's more than just a bad choice - it would be my own bad design decision. In reality I know that the builder works with you and probably wouldn't build a bad frame just because the customer wanted it.

Interesting. The internet can't seem to agree what it is, but at least it has consensus about making sure you don't eat much before a run.

It's suppoosed to continue off and on through late evening. Original forecast said only something small early afternoon. We have already had three rounds come though.

There ought to be a rule that it can only rain once per day.

On related issue, I found last Saturday where at least one hornet nest is in my yard this year. Only got popped once, so that is the good news. Those things are just nasty. I get hit at least once a year...its to the point I can tell without looking if it is a hornet or a bee that I excessively agitated. If its a hornet, I'm off and running as your liable to get multiple times if you linger.
