spoke nipples not standard?
I've always interchanged spoke nipples. I just got a DT Swiss Aero spoke and it is not accepting a standard nipple. I have no idea there are other nipple threads. What kind does this lame spoke require? Ugh!

Currently the ISO 2mm and 1.8 mm spoke threads are pretty much all of what you'll see (excepting certain brand specific stuff like Mavic has used). But back in the 1970s and earlier there were a few differing thread specs. I doubt you spokes are of this era. I wonder if there's either thread damage of a thread lock compound involved. Andy

Everything I see indicates the Aerolite has 2mm butts on both ends, and 0.9 x 2.3mm blades.
The DT page lists:
Thread 2.0 / FG 2.3
Ok, from the Sapim Website:
Anyway, as Andrew stated, everything looks fairly standard 2.0mm.
Is it possible you got a batch of 1.8mm nipples?
There are also 2.3mm heavy duty spokes. Relatively rare, but they do exist.
As Andrew mentioned, many major manufacturers use custom nipples. Either oversized nipples on standard spokes, or in some cases oversized spokes. I think Campagnolo uses an oversized aluminum spoke.
================================
13 Gauge = 2.3mm
14 Gauge = 2.0mm THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT
15 Gauge = 1.8mm

whew, at least some of the remaining spokes are corroded. it's a Rolf Vector Pro wheel with wide bladed spokes. ...not 2.3mm blades, doesn't seem like. any good way to find the right spokes? i should get a bunch... just for fun.

You might look at the spoke head stamp. A closeup photo of the head stamp might help.
Rolf Prima is a local wheel company here in Eugene.

Send them a note.
They may either be able to sell you the spokes, or tell you what brand.
