Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Nice.

Gaimon's been waiting for Lachlan to break it - he wanted a new time to aim for and didn't think it'd settle down til Lachlon (or one of a few others) did it.

We don't have them either. We solved it by keeping the population density low

I generally avoid the bike paths but this particular city is extremely bad for cyclists on the roads and the paths they have built are the best I've seen for getting around and avoiding car traffic. It's just since Corona that it has been getting zooed out and become dangerous.

Another beautiful morning, perfect for a ride. It’s chilly enough that I need to find my leg warmers.

All three bikes sold. Bunch of other stuff also sold. All that is left is assorted old time tools. I have to decide whether to try to sell them or just donate them to the local co-op...if it is still operating.

You could always head up to the Cap Trail. That's pretty remote, though, for a MUP, so there aren't too many people on it. I don't think that I've ever crossed paths with more than 20 people on a given ride.

I read your post about moving on from cycling and I understand where you are coming from but it seems like you could be a good candidate for an e-bike. It would give you the same enjoyment of tooling around at decent speeds without the effort. Perhaps you've already considered that but I thought I would add my 2 cents.

I know the feeling you are having as I am questioning my sanity for doing something that eats up a lot of precious time for seemingly little reward. maybe I need an e-bike!

Good luck and I totally support walks with the Mrs. That is important quality time.

my daughter turned two the other day. my parents gave her a baby doll and a stroller, and I don’t think I have ever seen a living thing so happy to be alive. It was amazing.

erie to philly was one of our longest flights on the dash 8. I imagine it’s even longer via cycle.
