Old Pinarello Cross Bike

Hello all. This bike is being sold for $1000 in my area. What do you all think? Is this a decent price? Says it has "un-glued tubular wheels and tires".

Another bike newbie question... I would like to have a more upright position on the bike for a short commute, relative to how it's currently outfitted. Think it would be possible to raise the handlebars to accommodate this?

Thanks all.

That's a nice bike and appears to be in great condition. I think the price is fair. However you might want to learn a little more about tubular tires before committing to this bike. They are great for cyclocross because they can be run at very low pressures without pinch flats but I wouldn't recommend them for most "bike newbies" especially for a commute bike.

The way to raise the handlebars would be with an extension to the steerer tube or with a stem that angles up from the fork steerer tube. The search term to find out about these is "riser stem."

With the decals in that good of condition, it may be a repaint. #pinarelloquickreleasedecals

Awesome bike. A couple of things to consider. Tubular cross tires may not be the best bet for commuting, but they're still the choice for a lot of CXers, and you might be able to sell them. Also, that crankset looks way over-geared for either cross or commuting.

Are you going to have to lock it up? Seems like too nice a bike for a commuter. Your money, though.

Another thing to consider: the wheels will only accept tubular tires, so if tubulars don't work for you neither will the wheels

Very nice bike fair price. But not a good bike for commuting on this is Cysclecross race bike some fairly aggressive geometry and gearing as mentioned the gearing can be changed pretty easy but the geometry and nature of the bike can't. This bike was made as a race bike and just isn't suited to be a commuter.
