September 2020 100+ Miles/km Thread

We survived August! Time to think about September. I'm looking forward to a little cooler weather, that's for sure. And I have several goals this month.

Goal 1: 1,000 miles.
Goal 2: Be at 200 consecutive days riding.
Goal 3: Get my mojo back...August took it out of me. Put another way...have some fun. Fun rides will be recorded thusly in my logs: .

What about everybody else?

Last September was my first 200 mile month .
The last two months have been back to back 200+ mile months with August being my personal best at 230.2 miles
I have surpassed my expectations.
Goal : I’m going to stay conservative at 150 miles for September. That’s 5 mile average per day .
But, If it cools off and I can get to ride a few long rides on the rails to trails, and the greenway path in Carrollton ( 18 mile loop) , I’ll be able to do more .

One more goal I forgot to mention is that I’d like to get my fitness score in Strava back up to 100. It’s kind of vague what that number is supposed to represent, but I know when it gets to 97 or so, there is fun riding going on. It was at 76 this morning. Generally, if I ride three hours a day, that number goes up. At about 2 hours a day it stays static and less than that it goes down. I’m sure it’s based on training stress over those times but that’s what it takes with my rather average efforts.

Today’s morning ride failed the fun test. Windy and muggy and just work.

09/01 - 35.2 miles

MTD: 35.2 miles
GOAL: 1000 miles

September
Goal : 150 miles
9-01 12.3
MTD 12.3
YTD 1297.3
I wanted a good start to September, so I left the neighborhood and headed into town . I had a destination in mind I wanted to ride to and I think that helped . Had to dodge a couple of dog walkers and joggers, but it wasn’t too bad . Now I’m beat and have a cramp in my right hamstring. 🤨
Time to hydrate and rest .

Rode to the end of the road and back 😎

Okay, so back on my bikes after my surgery, doc said I need to take it easy but that I could add five miles per week just to be safe. Six weeks of inactivity ( I was actually doing 40 miles a day before my surgery) and I did struggle with my ten miles Saturday and Sunday, but I know I will get stronger and besides, I need to get rid of the soft fat I added. Believe it or not, this group, and this goal, is tremendous motivation for me; thank you all for your support! So, with that said, I rode 10.41 miles this morning and will put a goal of 400 miles for September. Good Luck to everyone!!

09/01/20 10,41 Miles

Yes, August was a brutal month. I got off to a great start, and missed a few days due to travel and rain. That’s ok. I think riding should be fun, and admittedly I’ve gotten a bit carried away, thanks partially to this thread and forum. Yes, I pounded out a few miles, but I am supremely proud of everyone that posts here, gets off the couch, and rides - even when they don’t feel quite up to it.

Well, I hope to get in 700 this month. We’ll see............the good news is my new Domane should be at the dealer in less than two weeks. It is a serious machine.

I consider myself beyond blessed to be riding the caliber of road bikes in my stable.

And finally, I hope to be a Clydesdale no more as I go through September. My weight last week was 200.5 lbs, down almost 34 from where I started.....

Goal: 1000 Figured that I would just start out with the big number
9/1 - 55 miles

What strange weather we're having, over the last couple of weeks there have been high temps varying from 80's to 105. This morning the was some rain, so I decided to ride after making lunch. The temps were supposed to be in the mid 70's by then and have a high of 80. When I got out to ride, the temps were 65 and it got as high as 70 by the time that I finished riding. Well 55 miles is a good start to the month.

Your Goal #2 is going to be put to the test today. Woke up to steady rain with predictions that it will last all day.

Good luck!

Not an insurmountable problem. I rode Zwift. And I’d forgotten how I don’t much care for it. I’d much rather do real riding, but Zwift is okay for rainy days and super cold days. But unpleasant on the back side because I can’t bring myself to coast out of the saddle. Pedaling out of the saddle works, but I’ve apparently let that aspect of my riding slip a bit. Going to have to build that back up.

MTD: 54.1 miles
September Goal: 700 miles

Took a day off after Monday's epic journey, rode the beach bike path today from one end to the other, and back again. It's supposed to get really hot later this week, so we'll just have to see how many more miles I can get in these next few days.
