I finally finished an adapter that I made out of 7075 Zicral aluminum that allows me to run 110BCD 50T/34T compact chainrings on my 90s 135BCD Campagnolo Record crankset. The adapter could be modified to also run on 130BCD cranks and also accommodate 94BCD for 48T/32T chainrings. This is my first post on BikeForums so after another nine posts I will post photos and more details so people can fabricate one themselves.

i'm contemplating a 650B(odge) conversion for a Schwinn CrissCross frameset (700c wheels) I picked up for $40 (including canti-brakes, self-centering headset, and pre-crusted bottombracket. oh, and a pipe-seatpost .... with no seat clamp....)

https://bikeforums.net/g/album/22071384
- would require new canti-posts, 19mm closer to the whee center. Probably I can keep good ground clearance with 650b x 50mm tires. I think it'd be an interesting tourer.

Originally I got the frameset 'cause Jan Heine's got me burning up braincells wondering if I could bodge a frame to receive a Nivex derailleur. . . . if i could even find a Nivex derailleur.... more likely I could use a Suntour S1 derailleur, but I think Suntour put the indexing in the derailleur, so I think I can't go friction mode. more braincells burning out all the time...
True Fact: The Suntour S1 was only used on the 1993 Schwinn CrissCross. And my frameset is a 1991. (how does this happen? maybe the Great Bike Mojo is telling to just rid my Gunnar and get ride of the other bikes..... the Gunnar is perfect.)

Loaded up my preliminarily packed bags on the Koga-Miyata Graveller and took it out for a spin for a fully loaded test ride.

This should be the setup for this summer. Especially clothing isn't finalized but with a fully packed rear (23L), empty frame bag (~5.5L) and 70% full rando bag (17L) I should have some room to switch things around.
It handles well like this, it looks like I might even be able to ride it no handed, but I didn't dare to extensively test that theory.

Wow! Twenty fffffive? That’s absolutely fffffrigid! The coldest I have ridden was an early morning start in Paso Robles 2017 Eroica , it was 37 degrees f. This year I have had more than one sub forty starts to my rides and that is cold for me. I am building up an old Motobecane today but I don’t expect to actually finish it so I will bundle up for tomorrow’s ride on the Windsor, which Is the same bike I did the 37 degree start in Paso with. I am a SoCal weather wimp for sure , no fenders and nice cycling shorts with my knee high socks!

I would like to find time to glue on new tires to the new(C&V) rims as part of the 9v conversion on the Pinarello. Then the HB tape

I am busy trying to get all manner of Bike catalogs and other, some maybe obscure, old bike information scanned and uploaded to facebook albums.

1983 Bianchi US market catalog

Bianchi USA 1991

Tommasini brochure.

1988 Campagnolo parts manual

1987 Bianchi USA Mountain bike catalog and many others

Most of my work at the shop is on ~2010 and later road bikes, mountain bikes, and hybrids of various quality.

Occasionally I'll get something that I really love working on.

Today was a full overhaul of an 80's Nishiki Prestige. Basically tearing it down to the frame less headset cups, cleaning, degreasing, and repacking all bearing systems, and new cables/housing/tape.

Before:

After:

It cleaned up wonderfully and I'm so happy I got to do this today.

I'll be adding higher end Nishikis to my list of bikes I'd love to own. This one was so well put together and finished. I was thrilled at how the paint ended up looking. Too bad I didn't have any replacement hoods

A guy brought me about an '85/86 Klein Performance.
He wants it "as cheap as possible," in 2 days.

54cm frameset with decent wheels, 3TTT 120mmand 3TTT Forma bars.
Has the chameleon paint. Light frame, looks like a steel fork.

DT shifter bosses, so not an '84. It had the cable stops, but concave.
Will use flat-back

PressFit square taper BB is in there and is smooth. Will use 600EX-level compact with 50/34.

Looks like a 34.9 ST, but It may be an odd diameter, will need a clamp-on BB.
I can go with a clamp-on FD, which I have in 34.9.

I have an RD and shifters ready in 8-speed, along with a 12-32 8-speed cassette.
I could go with a Claris RD if I want to run that wide cassette.

Guess I'll sort through the stash to pick up a saddle, post, shorter stem, and bars.
I don't have much; two swap meets and the cupboard is bare.

Unsure of the seat post diameter. Hope it's not 27.4 as I sold those....

I'll get before/during/after pics.

That's all I took. Nice assortment. High end items didn't sell very well but the reminiscing flowed.

Got the seatpost out of the ‘86 Trek Elance 300 curb find I’ve had for a while, the first serious step in the restomod process. The non-original post is 26.8mm, and based on a BF search the frame needs a 27.0mm, which I just happen to have. Now I just have to find my tools and parts, which my wife innocently packed up in a fit of housekeeping while I was out of town recently. Win some, lose some.

They have been really busting their hump on that for awhile now and it shows.

I should have added it to my pilgrimage coming back from Eroica.

I recently acquired a 1980s Raleigh Record Ace. It still has the sticker from the shop in the UK that sold it in Bury St Edmund. I don't believe this model was available in the US. The frame is Reynolds 531. It was clearly a garage queen: there is no paint chipped away on the chain stay; when I opened the bottom bracket, the grease had separated after 40 years but it was clean but the bearing surfaces had very little wear.

It came stock with "alpine" gearing (52/42, 14-28 ultra 6 freewheel). I may install a triple on it; there are no mountains in central Iowa but this would make a good eroica bike as it has generous tire clearance. The bike is very clean on the inside but I went ahead and used frame saver. Then I have to make some decisions as to the build.
