Shift cable splitters without cable stops

CLOSED
Cable splitter between cable stops. This is not my bike.

Must a cable splitter be used between cable stops brazed/attached to the frame?

Are there any models of cable splitters that can be used without cable stops? The cable housing will butt against the cable splitter, if used without cable stops.

Can't understand what you are asking, "cable housing will butt against the cable splitter" on your bike which is not shown above?

Well, for the splitters shown the inner cables must be exposed. I know of no splitter that can work with an inner cable still inside housing. If the frame has round tubes it's not hard to make (or buy) clamp around housing stops. Andy

If I read your intent correctly, the answer is a clear NO.

For cables to work there has to be relative movement between the inner wire and the housing. Butting housing up against the splitter would preclude that, thereby disabling the cable.

BTW "cable splitter"can also refer to devices that allow a single lever to control 2 brakes. If you're referring to those, then I believe that there some that will serve your purpose

Succinct explanation.
Spent some enjoyable time figuring this out.
