It is not a steel fork a but a vitus aluminium fork (the vitus logo is recognizable), yes better wheels with better hubs , more speeds, new c record front derailleur et new synchro II c record down tube shifters.

Sold off my road bikes last year after a freak injury knowing I wouldn't have been able to ride and opting to have surgery. Fast forward to last month and perfect timing it was since I was cleared to start riding again and right when Lynskey was having another sale. I wanted another Helix and went with a stock build with Rival AXS 2x. Once it arrived, I swapped out the compact bar for my favorite 3T Superleggerra bar, again with Ciclovation Leather touch tape (synthetic) and Vittoria N.EXT 30c tubeless tires. The KMC X12 DLC chain finally arrives tomorrow.
It'll take some time to get back to 5mm under the stem but as the saying goes, "slowly but surely."

As for 5mm under stem...perhaps that is arbitrary and not indicative of ability or performance. Each bike's varying stack/reach numbers and head tube length plays such a large part in the number of spacers under a stem that it makes getting to a specific under stem length quite arbitrary. I guess that is true unless this frame has the exact numbers all your old bikes also had and you need to get back to a specific number for some reason.
The 20mm of spacers on that bike dont look odd/out of place in any way. Had you not mentioned, it wouldnt even have been something I looked at critically.

The Helix frames always look neat- whether there is an actual benefit or not, who cares- its cool.

Not like I need anymore Bikes, but couldn't pass this up. Just picked up this bone stock, Caad7 in near Mint condition. Been wanting to build one of these frame and forks up for a while. Paid $200...

I had hoped for an early 00's since they still used threaded bbs and they also have 1 1/8 headsets, but what I ended up with is a close second.
The downtube cable stops on your bike are great- always liked that location and the simplicity of the integrated stops.

Very cool- I looked for an early 00's CAAD frame in my size for a long time and continued to strike out, so I bought a later 90s CAAD3, bought a 1" steerer carbon fork, stripped then painted it.

Still kicking.
Still this:

The Scott is more aggressive, and handles far more sharply, it's also stiffer. If I were crit racing I'd pick the foil. For like 70, 80 or 100 mile rides I pick the SuperSix.

This will be the bike that sees me get stronger and faster.
It's got a Selle Anatomica X-2 saddle now, but here she is.

And love it. Love the frame! Will keep on pushing this frame until it goes on fire.

I got a used Giant TCR. The condition was excellent and the price was right. Before that I was going around on a Discover hybrid and it may be an entry level road bike but it’s a massive upgrade over that.
