Well, that doesn't happen very often.

I've struggled to get/keep in shape the last couple of years. A sedentary job combined with the background stress of the pandemic and, oh, aging seem to have sapped my energy. Well, I was very surprised to see that Strava tells me I had two "personal bests" this afternoon. I'll be sixty in a couple of weeks and I've been riding the same roads for about twelve years now and I thought PBs were a thing of the past. What's more, I was riding my Black Mountain Cycles Road bike, the heaviest bike I own, and not one of the three "racing" bikes that I own. I'm sure the stiff tailwind had something to do with it, but I'll take what I can get!

Yea , at 67 I am surprised when that happens. I am usually stoked with status quo!

I get that on occasion as well and always on the bike you least expected it would happen. Like you said, must be the right conditions or something that makes that happen. Now to catch a segment - that would be the rarest of all events considering how popular cycling is around here.

There are no tail winds.
There are headwinds, and there is "I'm having a good day!"
