Scheeren Stem / 60s era ?

Small obscure piece of German cycling history. 90mm reach, 25mm bar opening, 22.2 quill (actual digital caliper measure is 22.1), digging through old catalogs placed this in the 1960s era.

You may recognize the photos from an older Velobase upload. I've held onto it for years waiting for a project that never arrived. It'd be an incredible addition to your 50s/60s grail bike. I doubt another one will pop up this decade, it's that unusual of a find.

Pricing this 20% less than the ultra-rare panto'd stem I bought last year to start. If it's in your wheelhouse and you're hunting, reach out, it likely won't sell soon. Like many things I have, hard to find bits.

I'll let it go for $120 shipped in CONUS. SOLD!! Feel free to hit me up with offers. Sorry, not trying to gouge, just trying to price based on rarity and condition. I probably won't be dropping the price.

More pics. Yep, I see the nut's position in the photos above. Don't ask.

Sorry to point this out but there looks to be a crack in the first and third picture by the nut. It has not gone all the way yet.

Here are some close-ups of the little wrench mark near the nut:

Fascinating little guy. A rarity for sure...at least to me as I have never seen one!

Yes, these were produced in the 50s and 60s. I have a 1960 Ron Kitching catalog with them offered.

It's a beautiful piece, I dig all these older stems using the I-beam design (I forget what the hell it's called). When I first got it attached to a mid-80s Peugeot tourer, I was surprised to learn how early it was made, it looked great even on that modern of a ride.

I'm sure there's a bike out there this would be perfect for. It just hasn't made its way through my hands in the last 6ish years.

also illustrated in the Ronkit "Everything Cycling" handbooks of 1963 and 1970.

he was a stockist for two models; the other was an upward extension model intended for upright bars. IIRC the subject model was offered in two or three extension lengths.

My Rabeneick 120d would be a perfect home for that stem. Sadly, spent most of my bike budget cash already this summer.

YES! I couldn't think of the other English word for I-beam. That's it. I especially love the slightly older Reynolds girder stem with 2-bolt in front. Those look awesome! Can't find a pic though.

We should talk. I don't need to get my full ask, and you've always been a hugely inspirational and sharing person IMO. Happy to let it go for much less to you.
