1st significant ride today on the '79 310 I completed in February. (see earlier post) All I can say is that this bike rides way better than I ever imagined it could. The DB Hi-Ten frame transmits power effortlessly, handling is sure and predictable, and the ride is supreme. I guess it's really about frame geometry and build quality. Not the covid project that I thought I wouldn't ride much. This one's a keeper!

Just picked this up and am excited to get another vintage Trek up-and-running. I had a 560EX Pro that I eventually gave to my brother-in-law that I miss terribly.

This is what the bike looked like when I got it - did a 650b conversion which made it way more rideable and fun, but don't worry I saved all the parts.

So I picked up this 1984 Trek 520 today. It’s in decent shape has some spots on it that need to be cleaned up. But is pretty much all original.

He was a nice guy who rides and had a lot of nice bikes in his garage. He said he bought the frame in 1984 for his wife and she didn’t ride much. He ended up storing it in the garage. So when looking over the bike at the buyers home, I took a hex wrench tool with me to make sure everything turned and was able to be undone. The stem was not tight and was able to be turned. But when I came to the seat post the thing would not budge. We tried a mallet on the seat but still nothing. He told me he was sorry as he didn’t know it was like that. I was pretty reluctant to buy it but he told me I could try to get it loose and if it didn’t work out to bring it back.

I guess my question is should I really try to get it out. 21” frames are pretty hard to come by in my area. I like the frame and don’t mind doing the work to clean it up and get it riding again, but I really haven’t had much experience when it comes to removing seat posts, from reading I know they can be a pain in the butt. Would you deal with it or just take it back.

Just finished a teardown and refurb on this 1980 model 414. Original Superbe calipers comfortably reach the brake track on my Ukai/Sueze 700c wheelset, running 32mm tires and an 11-32t 7-speed cassette. Everything else other than the cockpit and saddle is original. Lots of rust removal and touch up paint to keep this one on the road for years to come. It is a joy to ride!

Looks like someone left it to rot in the sun. That’s a sweet half-step+granny setup on the Sugino AT crank. Worth the price of admission in its own.

All three bikes were left to rot but the components including wheels were in decent shape. So far I haven't broken anything working on them.

Picked up this 1985 Trek 600 today. Should clean up very nice. Gotta love the Reynolds 531-Shimano 600 combo on these. This one has been changed over to aero brake levers as it should have had non-aero originally, but they put a nice set of Superbe Pro levers on it. Nice upgrade. I also need to find a seat binder bolt to replace the quick release someone put in. Anyone know what length that bolt should be?

Finished up today by installing the wheel set I built over the weekend. I thought the "bleu" Mavic SSCs would look good on this one....

Ok, I don't have this now, sadly, but this is my bike from the late 1980's/early 1990's that I raced at National Champs on etc. Superb, my first carbon frame, full Campagnolo C-record transferred from my previous bike, an Alan aluminium. The Time pedals were also new for the era. I raced some lovely machines - would love to have held on to them but always sold to get newer kit at the time.

After some gentle nudging from me, a friend of mine picked up this one tonight for cheap. Appears to be an '82 736. These are the photos from the ad. After a quick tune up, we're going out for a ride this weekend and will probably post some more photos, .
