I think blacktop and asphalt shingles can store a tremendous amount of heat.

Landed in PHX a few months ago.
Its huge!
I didn’t remember it being that big. Not too much longer and the whole valley will be built up.

When I commuted regularly, Pre Covid shutdown and pre job change last August. I rode year round. I have ridden as warm as 100F 80+% humidity and as low as 13F. Both rides were fine.

I still miss the rhythm of bike commuting! Seeing the sunrise and sunset times change and seasons change is so cool.

I commute from beginning of September to beginning of July. Coldest I’ve rode in was -6f when left house. Hottest was 100+. Much rather ride in cold than hot. Can only take so many clothes off before get arrested

15F or below motorists in my suburban Boston area will slow down next to me a shout discouragement e.g "it's too cold out for biking!"

Responses can include " It's too congested to drive."

Nowadays, it's "Gas is too expensive to drive."

Minimum is 32F and I can usually make it home as long as it’s 100F or less.

We had an awful heat wave last year and I rode home in 106F temps. I went S L O W! My usual time home is around 70 minutes. I was 90 minutes in and still 4 miles from home. I should of called my wife, my HR hit 189 and I never went above 150watts basically Z1. In retrospect that was a bad idea.

I’d say my commutes generally go from March through October. Lots of commutes in May/June as I hit my stride. I like long early morning commutes but they can wipe me out.

yikes. I had a hot 17 mile commute home one day, where I remember stopping 1/2 wayish to nap in the shade. did actually pass out. luckily there was a convenience store right there, so I drank some cold beverage, then laid down. must have been out for 15 minutes

Hahaha, I have a helmet video from riding through Porter on a snowy morning in 2015. A guy in a truck with a thick regional accent rolled down his window to yell, "Yerrr a fahhkkin' idiot."

For me, generally above 40-ish and below 105-ish. Its an 18 mile ride, and I'm slow, so....

where do the temps have to be, for you to start up again?
Anything north of 45ºF, and I begin to find it easy to be warm enough. Below 40ºF, and I'm generally uncomfortable.

Of course, now that it's summer, I find that at anything above 75-80ºF or so, I get too hot. Go figure.

Temps are NEVER the issue. ONLY ice. I refuse to commute on ice.
