This is as close as I get to owning a Raleigh. It's soon going to a good friend of mine since he owns this exact bike. Happy holidays

I'm still trying to find the pictures of the Raleigh that I had in college (a '78? International maybe?) which I ran as a straight bar cyclocross bike. It was my campus commuter, and elegantly handled the gravel toe paths that I would ride to and from school (VaTech). While I think of that with nostalgia, I look at my future build with more than a few questions. I can't make out the serial number b/c the paint's kinda thick, but I believe this is an '92 Technium 450 (s/n R921520257)? You can ignore the bars, they're just a place holder. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this was a 700c frame which accepted my 130 rear 10sp wheel with no squeezing or prying. I'm planning to set this up as a proper 2x10 with the original downtube shifters working in friction mode. The RX100 brakeset w/ levers seems more than adequate for what is to be fair weather neighborhood ride.

Well , after getting this frame a while ago($150 including Campy headset and bottom bracket) , I am starting to play around with a build. The frame is solid although needs a repaint. I plan to build it , ride it for a year , and then decide if I am going to have Franklin do a repaint . Jack did a great job on my Colnago and this may be next. Originality is not critical to me on this one . I kind of like the look of the period correct<78> three peg crank even though this bike would have come with a NR model which I have . The wheels that are on it just for looks will not work as they are 27" and I have a set or Campagnolo brakes that I want to use that will not allow me to use them. It will have to be 700's but I really like the HF Record hubs. I will use the GB stem and GB "Island" handle bars that are on it . It will have a Brooks Team Pro saddle with the large copper rivets that was on it when it was new just because I really like them. I really look forward to getting this back on the road at some point after I finish the Motobecane (almost ready just needs the decals).

Just the one pic
So sorry its the non drive side, the original owner said he upgrade the RD to NR, everything else appears to be original, it rides really nice, such a great bike.
I got this bad boy a couple of months ago In Florida from the original owner, and with the bill of sale he bought it in 1983 but the serial number tells me its a 1980.

Robert UI, Techniums are great bikes. I have a '89. They are light enough to use for long-distance. I don't remember seeing a road model with uni-crown fork before. I run 6-speed friction.

I told myself I had enough road bikes, but you know, n+1 and all. If it had been a different paint scheme I probably wouldn't have bit so hard. Not sure of the exact year yet, but obviously mid-80s Indexing 2x6 105 group w/biopace.

Currently, I only have one Raleigh, this 1973 Competition built up as an all-roads bike - I've posted it elsewhere. Currently running 42/44T chainrings with a Surly 17/19T Dingle fixed cog and a White Industries Dos Eno 20/22T freewheel, for 70-in pavement and 60-in gravel fixed, or 60-in general freewheeling and 52-in gentle singletrack riding. It's way more fun than should be legal.
For a while I had this one, possibly the world's saddest Raleigh Gran Sport, shown here as assembled for the 2020 Clunker Challenge 100, but it has since moved on to a new owner and a new life -

Hey, I use the Paul Components “Gino” fork light mount, or the Origin 8 version. I often use my bright light down low, and a second headlight on the bars to increase my visibility to drivers. Most lights are designed to be used on the bars, so depending on how dark your area is, it might not be the best to mount it as low as I do. When your whole wheel is illuminated though, people really see you, and for me that’s the point mostly. I haven’t noticed any balancing issues of anything like that. Last thing to say about it, if you mount these on MTB that have eyelets midway down the fork, that’s a great mounting spot and still serves to put the light where it belongs. Cheers - John

I may have posted some of these on this thread before but here's the entire project accumulation to date. I have a lot of work ahead of me but I'm out of commission for a few weeks, finally got me left knee replaced a few days ago and the other in a few weeks.
1966 Raleigh Carlton under that rattle can white:
1973 Competition, I only bought the frame and fork:
1976 Super Course MkII:
1977 LTD 3, my first 2 Raleighs were about this color:
1985 Racing USA Grand Prix, paint, etc. is toast but no damage, it's getting a custom paint job:
1985 Racing USA Competition, just needs a good cleaning and consumables, no good excuse for it not being done:
1985 Racing USA Prestige, another one with no good excuse for not being done:
......and last but not least
1987 Technium 480, paint and graphics are like new, wasn't a fan of the color in the ad pic below but when it got here and I saw it in person I fell in love with it. It's a deeper shade and much richer than the pics showed:
