Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

They all look the same. Is that because of stringent regulation or convergent evolution?

Don't make it longer,
Don't make it stronger.
Just fix it so I can pith
Mind you, when he went in for hernia surgery, he had a similar note taped to him -
A fellow named Smith with a hernia,
Said to his doctor, "Goldurn ya!
While fixing my middle,
Please do not fiddle
With matters that do not concern ya!"

That was actually written about Daly City, a suburb just South of SF, where, yes, there are dozens, maybe hundreds of little boxes on the hillside, little boxes all the same.

Evidence from South Africa points to it being so.

Some of both, mainly the latter. They are pretty optimized, like diamond-frame bicycles, but that’s a picture of the go-fast class start. The slower, amateur-sailed boats are much more diverse and some are a century old.

This is what we’re racing:

It’s got a carbon rig, molded sails, and a modern keel, but the rest was designed in the 20s

Is it designed just for racing, or could you travel and live on a boat like that? How long are they?

Since we are baring our souls tonight, this might surprise some of you. The "hold my beer" thing. I know it has been around awhile as I've seen it here and there but I don't know why/how it began or what it means. I've managed well without knowing so no explanation needed

Quick turnaround time for it to be designed and in the seas in less than two years.

There's fireworks going off, and kids yelling in a nearby yard like it's July 4.

Get inside people, it's winter out.

Niels Helleberg Yacht Design - Designers of Fine Yachts

Compare it to a top end custom bike with endurance geometry and eyelets for stuff. It was custom built in cold-molded wood for a very wealthy guy who wanted traditional beauty, speed, and comfort. It’s absolutely stunning up close and has all the creature comforts. The second owner cruises and races it in New England and is trying to get us to do a transatlantic race with him so he can sail in Europe for a year or so.

Was supposed to spend a nice quiet NYE with the wife and kids. Unfortunately their mom found out mid day yesterday they’d been exposed at a Christmas gathering she brought them to, so we spent the night isolated from each other in masks instead. Happy ******g new year.
