My New Gilmour Tandem

I picked up this Andy Gilmour tandem recently for cheap. I did a complete overhaul and replaced the straight bars, stem, cheap friction thumbies and rear derailleur with upgraded components. Next step is to get it on the road.

Nice overhaul! I haven't heard of Andy Gilmour. Is he from the Twin Cities area? And, how old is this bike? The reason I ask is because we used to live in the Twin Cities, and we own a couple of tandems that were built by two different builders from the area.

Andy Gilmour is/was based in Arizona. Not sure of the age of the bike but would guess late '80s.

Andy is alive and well!

Andy Gilmour lives in Tucson and is still fabricating bike frames. He's made some pretty bad-ass tandems in the sub 30lbs category.

I wish mine was sub 30 lbs. It weighs in at 37 lbs as currently equipped.

Very nice!
Our first tandem was an Andy Gilmour purchased new about 40 years ago.
Yours definitely looks more modern.
Had it for about ten years and enjoyed it.
After that had a Santana and now a Calfee which is our forever bike.
Enjoy the Gilmour.

I met Andy Gilmour over 10 years ago. I loved his bikes, but could not afford one at he time due to daycare bills and such.
